The cause of academic and moral decay in Nigeria is simply the total lack of values and its corresponding lack of purpose. What is education, for instance, and why do we educate people?

Education is apprenticeship in values and we educate so as to grow in values and become master of self through knowledge and application of time-honoured virtues. A sound education informs the conscience and strengthens the will. A sound conscience and a strong will are the essential character traits of the truly educated. The will conforms the actions of the educated to the dictates of a pure and upright conscience thereby making him a harbinger of justice and an agent of positive change.

We need to totally reconsider our culture as a people.
