The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, the Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh, yesterday described the Boko Haram sect as evil forces challenging the destiny of Nigeria, saying that by the power of resurrection of Jesus Christ, it shall become a thing of the past.

Okoh disclosed this in his sermon titled: “Alleluia! Christ is Risen,” at yesterday’s Easter celebration at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Gwarimpa, Abuja.

The Primate likened the killings in the northern part of the country to the situation in the time of Jesus Christ, “when the old order (the Roman Empire) was struggling with the new order, which was Christ Jesus,” adding that Christ prevailed, therefore, Nigeria will prevail over the forces of darkness.

The cleric expressed confidence that the deadly sect might for a while seem to be succeeding, “the mighty hands of God will cut them off,” he said.

He continued: “The problem had been holding us down that we will not make progress, right from independence, if you consider the trouble we have gone through, the number of people that died during the civil war. And now some groups have decided that, there will be no rest, killing people unabated, something is instigating them. There is power that we do not see that is trying to hijack the destiny of Nigeria.

“We may look at them as foreign intervention, we make look at them as people from within, and there is evil force that is trying to hijack our destiny. And it was like that in the time of Jesus, the old order was struggling with the new order – Jesus was representing the new order by bringing people to God, and this old order (the Jews and the Roman Empire) were pulling things down.

“At the moment we are going through a tunnel and it is very dark, we hardly see, some people are behind this, evil forces are behind this, but Jesus rose on the third day and overcame the power of death, this Boko Haram will become a history, he said.
