1. Who has been running and kept oil and gas sector the way it's today? What have you done before GEJ administration, to create awareness or correct it?

2. Based on the Aviation ministry profile, who ruined that sector or created most of its present issues?

For how long are we going to continue this way?

In the end folks who always seek to score cheap political points off every simple issue will be called out for the hypocrite they are. How could some people be so wicked as not to acknowledge efforts being made to reposition the aviation industry, even if it is as simply as airport remodelling and infrastructure upgraded. Should these wicked people not be accused of habouring ethnic sentiments or pure hatred for other hardworking folks. Why would someone arrogate the right to brand all ministers (including some very bright folks among them) as thieves and incompent folks? Is this not unreasonable hatred, emanating from some desperating evil, see-no-good mind? Why twist the news to fit and agenda when every objective eyes know that the bulk of the blame lies in the hand of the airline operator whose business models are faulty?

One would expect the airline operators to take advantages of governmnent inputs to put more seriousness in their business. But rather than that we have cart loads of excuses why they are unable to deliver. Since the airlines have failed to grow their business by improving their fleet and services, if government weilds the big axe to prevent the proliferation of flying coffins, trust these resident hypocrites to flood here again in shameless dance, while thumping their chest as masters of objectivity.

Look, you should refrain from painting everyone with the same brush simply because it suits the stereotype you want to believe and peddle about a people. I was very critical of OBJ's running of the Petroleum sector. I even attended a Nigerian protest against OBJ in London.

If you read my posts you will discern a consistent way of thinking. This is not about ethnic groups. It is about a system contriving to always ensure 'like-minded' associates get in positions that allow a few, from all corners, to keep looting and regressing Nigeria.

It is those who do not open their minds who fall for the ethnic "them against us" crap. OBJ, for example, operated as Petroleum Minister simply so he could 'control the money' . GEJ is doing it through Allison-Madueke. It could well be Adoke Bello or Oyinlola.

The bottom line for discerning folks is that non of our President , since 1999, have made a genuine effort to reform the petroleum sector because it suits them that things are the way they are. They even act to maintain the status quo. It is a system of patronage and anyone joining to defend any leader on ethnic grounds, rather than appreciate it is about looting and not where you are from, is simply the politically unsophisticated citizen our leaders love because those are the sort who keep them in power despite their failings. Issues are simply about the patronage system even if the names and ethnicity of those in charge change.

2. Based on the Aviation ministry profile, who ruined that sector or created most of its present issues?

How long is a piece of string? How far do you want us to go back with the unhelpful blame culture making things easy for the incompetent leaders in charge today? Even GEJ has come out to say "I did not cause Nigeria's problem". Of course we all know that but no ethnic distraction can make fair-minded and pragmatic people blind to the fact GEJ is worsening our major problems.

Ask intelligent economic analysts their opinion and they will tell you Nigeria has no chance of making significantly optimal progress if a few things are not addressed. Issues such as our high recurrent expenditure running around 70% when it is in single digits for many developed Nation. You will also be told we need to refine our crude optimally. Corruption is another thing they will mention. You tell me what GEJ has done in regards to the above if not capitulate totally to the problem ( "leaner government not possible" ) or even abet the problem via empowering corruption and the corrupt plus conceding our refineries into the hands of the NNPC for 2 years.

Only fools will say GEJ or the Aviation minister caused all the problems in the sector but the case is that GEJ is not competent to run the affairs of Nigeria and he has failed to assemble the most competent people available. What that means is that gradualism is all we get and not solutions.

For how long are we going to continue this way?

It is precisely because I personally don't want us to "continue this way" that I speak. I could not care where a leader is from. I only wish that said leader is competent and a solutions provider. If you ran a company, you would want a manager who has displayed an ability to troubleshoot and build things. You will never accept someone who comes in to be avoiding the most major issues of your company while he points to nicely sharpened pencils and neatly arranged files as "achievement".

When you know so little about a thing, you keep quiet and let those who are expert speak! First it was N300bn fizzled away without any accountability and when the experts said this was the wrong way to go about averting the collapse of the aviation industry, people like you called them names.

What people like you have failed to figure out is government has been deceiving people like you and stealing billions in the name of Airport renovation! Aviation is more than using oil paint to pain sheds and tiling up walls

Gbawe.:
The gross incompetence of GEJ and his '40 thieves' laid bare below. Tomorrow, clannish worshippers of mediocrity who do not mean Nigeria will come here talking of Aviation/Agriculture/road "transformation". GEJ and his Ministers are certainly shaping up to be the biggest 419ners Nigeria has produced. Hard to believe the abject mediocrities Nigeria parades as "leaders" in this day and age. Simply disgraceful.

OP: Let me be blunt by saying this - you are a bigoted, evil, tribalistic and small-minded man hiding behind vacuous, insipid bombast which is boringly and predictably punctuated by twaddle such as "clannish".

The very first sentence of the article you posted, clearly outlines reasons for the failing aviation sector:

The air transport industry in Nigeria is on the verge of collapse, plagued by shortage of funds, high maintenance costs, multiple taxation and poor business models, among others.
1. "Shortage of funds" - these airlines are private businesses free to source financing from Banks and the like. If the FG were to extend a bailout fund to them, the likes of your will hypocritically lead the chorus line in vociferous denunciation of that initiative.
2. "High maintenance costs" - Is it the responsibility of the FG to determine the cost of aircraft maintenance?
3. "Multiple taxation" - Granted this is where perhaps, the FG can intervene but it unlikely that multiple taxation is the single leading cause for failure here for even in this environment of multiple taxation, infrastructure intensive businesses like Glo and MTN and others thrive.
4. "Poor business models" - Is it the responsibility of GEJ or the FG to draw up business models for the privately owned airline businesses. You are quite silly to attempt to suggest this even when the article you posted is clearly headlined "Failed business model brings aviation sector to its knees".

Clearly you will burst a vein and die of apoplexy should the current incumbent decide to seek a 2nd term of office and go on to win. Hence your desperation to spin a balanced and neutral article into a political polemic. Shame on you!

Oh and BTW, I am neither from the SE or SS before you retreat into your predictable whining about "clannish sentiments".

Gbawe.:

It can be profitable for well-organised operators and with the right aviation environment. Ryan Air, a short haul operator similar to many in Nigeria, declared a profit even greater than at same period last year - and this is even in an economic downturn.
Lets see. . . Ryanair's source of financing is from where? The Irish government? Ryanair's business model is imposed on it by who? The Irish government? Ryanair's cost of maintenance of it air fleet is borne by who? Irish banks?

You are a disgusting hypocrite.

Ryanair is a publicly quoted company which was initially founded by individuals. No government equity or funds involved. The Nigerian airlines are privately owned and running in an essentially market economy like Ryanair. All over the world airlines go bust and Nigeria is not an exception. In order to survive the airlines know what they need to do.

Now stop trying to make everything about the politics of 2015.

You are simply a member of the fan club of the Resident Hypocrite and the retardeen choir.
Who are the experts who condemned the bailout plan of the aviation industries - a bailout plan carefully structured by Central Bank? I suppose when folks like hear the term 'government bailout fund', your automatic response is that must somehow money has been fretted away without any sort of accountability.

Perhaps what you should find out before shouting your voice hoarse is: how many airlines have drawn from the funds, how many have defaulted, and what is the government doing about default? Without these you really have no point.

As for the Airport renovation you so deride, let me restate that folks like you are simply hypocrites driven by insidious agenda. In which planet is it wrong to carry out minor or major maintenance of public infrastructure? Same infrastructure that many complained are dilapidated due to poor maintenance culture! What breed of hypocrites is the country churning out these days?

Some of you are utterly shameless.
