Atimes, it really baffles my mind and I keep asking myself this question. Really, no one is perfect; but Nigeria as a country is not looking perfect. It needs some modification. Let the modification start here by sharing. You can add your opinion.

-Youths/adolescents in Nigeria these days are not really focused on their education. Why? Because, the rate at which the get distracted by social networking world is not so ideal. Also, many faults are from parents. As parents, you should learn to:
1. Monitor your child: educational-wise, social-wise, random
2. Interact with you child (yeah, most parents are lagging behind in this, it is really a drawback for a child, a child would have some things that are making he/she bothered, whereas they would need some proper documentation, advise and lead to whatever the next step to solve the particular problem may be. But this solution can only come from elderly people. Other elderly people may influence them in a bad way, but parents cannot. Learn to interact witth your child. Don't scare them)
3. Make your child know what is going on around you: from above, if you interact with your child, you make them know what's going on around you. At work, around your friends, random. This makes a child learn from you, especially when you have made a mistake and you're teaching you child not to make the same mistake in future.
4. Tell your child about your youth life: this also helps, let them know who their father/mother was. Let them know where to learn from your story. Don't make it boring.
5. Take good care of your child (everyone knows about this, but care may be different from each other): being caring isn't all about spoiling them with money, parents with single child are fond of this. Keep off, no one says you shouldn't spend on them, spend on them reasonably. It may all be gone one day, when its gone, they go wayward because they are used to the "lavish life".

Care about their education, tell them to gist you, even if they bring failure home, don't scare them; open up a gist and let them voice out why they've failed, then correct them.
6. Teach them about your religion
7. This goes to single parents: let them feel comfortable with you, don't make them know the other parent is gone. This can frustrate them if you don't, and they'd go wayward.

-Distractions: what causes distraction and moves one away from their educational life and personal dreams?
1. Game: gaming is good, but is bad when addicted, youths do learn from games, but getting too addicted is bad. Games should be played at a leisure period. Weekends!
2. Sex: opposite sex(as we all know) is a distraction for youths these days. What most youths think about is having sex with their so called partners, even kids of 14years old these days are no more virgins. If this continues, where do you think the next generation will be like? They would have been disvirgined at the age of 10. Surely. Let us learn how to fight this. What causes this thought?
A. Porn
B. Erotic Movies
C. Boredom
D. Being wrapped by the opposite sex(too close)
E. Erotic and stupid novels
3. Fame: every thought going in youths of this days is all about fame (My friend named "A" is very popular, girls trip for him because he has money/his parents are rich, or because he's the president of one association is school or the other). What this causes(especially in Nigeria): political corruption: youths fight for politics, they are desperate. They want to be at the top so as to gain fame, here they start learning how to win opponents desperately, some would go miles to do bad for opponents! Nigeria damages from there, if you can do this as a youth, what if as a contestant of president post of the country in future?
"Yahoo Yahoo": nothing much needs to be said about this, much of them use humans, "juju/jazz"(charms), and so many various bad things to make this work. If as a youth, you earn that much(remember nothing lasts forever), how much can you earn when you start working as an adult(when yahoo yahoo would have faded)? What this would cause when you're an adult? "Robbery"!
Stealing: already mentioned above. But could be expressed further! In any way.
Ganging: the act of keeping gangs amongst youths in Nigeria is increasing geometrically, you keep gangs to gain fame, so people will respect you, ladies will chase you. There are good gangs, but the bad ones have overwritten the good ones.

Add yours!

Nice one dear...parent who says that they are working hard to take care of their family should know that money isn't everything, teach them give them both the formal n informal education, should always spend more time with their kids.

Lols, thanks. Money isn't everything really. This is what many Nigerians fail to believe.
