CHRISTAINS Are Responsible For The WOES Of NIGERIA by mekaboy(m): 12:01am On Apr 15, 2013
Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. What we are experiencing today in Nigeria is TOTAL DARKNESS COVERING THE NATION.

Why is this so? because the Christians are turning down their light. In the offices, the turn down their light and corruption grows.

The pastors turn down their light and preach about money while the souls of their members perish. we no longer evangelize and preach the good news of salvation.

Christians in the police and army turn down their light and take bribe, Christians in customs turn off their light and watch arms come into the country.

Christians in government turn down their light and take bribe. HOW COME WE WONDER WHY THERE IS SO MUCH EVIL IN NIGERIA?

This evil is a representation of DARKNESS. there is this saying that " if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem".

Nairaland Christians, is your light on in your office, school, home and street ?

What makes a person a Christian?

Who is a Christian?

If a person is a Christian, would he/she steal? Would they take bribe? Lie? Commit murder? Cheat? If you answer these questions honestly then you know who a Christian is.

A Christian is a person that obeys the teachings and life-style of Jesus Christ. If the person does other-wise: I don't see how you can call them a Christian. So, if a person talk the talk and don't walk the walk; obviously something is wrong. There is a change in a persons life when they become a Christian. The change is a change of good, not the same old things they used to do.

So, there is nothing Christian-like about stealing - a thief is a thief irrespective of his/her religious beliefs. The Bible doesn't teach anyone to steal so I can't see how you can say someone is a Christian and steals.

There is nothing new under the sun - the devil can masquerade himself as an angel of light. You have so called "pastors" that prey on the ignorance and vulnerability of innocent people. The Bible calls them "wolves in sheep clothing". Some pastors are more concern with how much it's members pay as their tithe and offering than the issue of sin and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Judas Iscariot was one of the chosen 12 disciples yet he betrayed Jesus for money? If he was alive today, would you call him a Christian.

You have some "Catholics" priest that molest young men around the world - would you call such people Christians? At the same time, would you say Mother Theresa that helped the poor, preached the gospel, provided a platform to take people out of poverty etc wasn't a Christian because she was Catholic?

The yard stick is to use Jesus Christ as the litmus test. It is against His teachings and life that we can say if we are Christians or not. Once you are a Christian and accept Jesus and ask him to take over your life - do you know what happens? He provides salvation - Salvation is not only about saving you from sin but it is also about keeping you from sinning again.

So, how can you say you are a Christian if you keep doing the same things when you weren't a Christian? It makes no sense. I think most so called "Christians" are living in denial.

Who told you that? If u say u r without sin u lie. U did not read where paul said the does the things he is not suppose to do, and the things he is suppose to he does not.

We just have to try to avoid those things that bring us down. Watever stops us from having the confidence to say no to what is wrong.

It is not a matter of who said what - to put you at ease, let us see what the good book (The Bible says):

1. Be ye Holy, for I am Holy - 1 Peter 1:16
2. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil - 1 John 3:8
3. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away (old lying, stealing, cheating, 419, juju etc); behold, all things are become new - 2 Corinthians 5:17

So, what is the use of becoming a Christian if you will continue to sin? Why continue to lie, cheat, commit fornication, adultery etc. Why can't you just continue to do it without becoming a Christian.

Learn to read your Bible:

Romans 6:1-6 - What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin

Your point is taken from Romans 7:15. Read Romans 7 & 8 and see what the author was talking about and don't cherry pick some verses if you don't understand the theme of the message. The author gave a simple example. He said, if a woman is married to her husband, she is bound to him under the "Law" as long as he lives. So, she can't marry him and marry another man if her 1st husband is still alive - that was the "Law". Which law you might ask - the Law of Moses.

Now, if her husband dies, she becomes a widow and the contract of marriage is broken because of his death and she is free to marry again. However, if she marries again while her 1st husband is alive - she will be called an adulteress.

The author was using this as an analogy as a comparison between the "Law of Moses" & the grace of Jesus Christ. His message was to tell you that once you are a Christian, you are dead to sin. You are no more "married" to sin. It is impossible to be a true follower of Jesus Christ and continue in Sin except of course you were never a Christian in the first place.

The Bible says the wages of sin is death - it didn't say small sin or big sin or worldly sin or christian sin.
