Well done prospective Naval Officers in the house...It's been wonderful with you guys. Here, serves as a primary source of information for me.
I have a problem but I know it is temporary because it's solve-able. It's been so many years I left secondary school and that was the time I did maths and enjoyed it then but at present I hardly understand so many maths questions posted here.

The issue now is that what can be done to get all these questions solved? I know I can go back and get Mathematics test books and use them as guides but time doesn't permit me that.

fabulurs: I mean this equation 1-4. Pls how did you arrive at the answers
1) let Marian income be x, her net income at 10% tax rate is 0.9x
if her income is increased by 10% and the tax rate is now 15% then her net income becomes 1.1*0.85*x
the changes led to increase of 350 dollers implying that 1.1*0.85*x-0.9x=350, solving for x gives x=350/0.035=10000

2) let the number be x, when its increased by 20%, the result is 1.2x, 1.2x is further increased by 20% to arrive at 1.2*1.2x=1.44x. we need to get back to x, the question now is by what percent do we reduce 1.44x to get back to x.
1.44x-a% of 1.44x=x. the problem has been reduced to solving for a.
1.44-a*144/100x=x; a=(144x-100x)/1.44x=44/1.44=30.56%

3)let the prize be x, prize after 30% increase is 1.3x, 1.3x-a%=x, the question is as well reduced to solving for a.
1.3x-a*1.3x/100=x
solving for a gives a=(130x-100x)/1.3x=23.08

4)after th first year, the prize is increased by 8% to 20*1.08, the prize after the first year also increase by 8% to arrive at 20*1.08*1.08=23.33 at the end of the second year

the question i saw and solved has 150 but this has 180, my solution is right, if u use 150, then 240 will be the correct answer. replacing 150 by 180 n0w will give the following solution following thesame pattern

if x is the capacity of the tank then x-3x/8=180
solving the equation for x gives x=180*8/5=288

I added that just to show the difference. Ibrahim is actually the 1st 4 star general if we are to go by equivalence, that is, Army, Navy and Airforce. But if you are asked who is the first 4 star general tick General Yakubu Gowon because the question is for Army and not the Armed forces in General.
This question was asked some years back.

Dr Leks Leadman:

288 is the right option.

I think 5/8 equals 180.

So 3/8 equals (36*3=108)

108+180=288

Or simply 180/5=36

36 * 8 = 288.

Anyone get any other answers?
The question I solved has 150 nt 180

Thanks bro.
That's the main reason why I love the Nigerian Navy than Army. NN are more organised. Just take a look at this thread and NA thread. The same applies to the NN and NA in the real world. Why the army flies their shirt, the NN tuck-in and looks like a perfect gentle man. Everything about the Nigerian Navy thrills me. Hope I haven't offended any NA applicant with my words. If I have, please I'm sorry.

was told that there is no minister of defence for federal. Minister of defence state is ERELU OLUSOLA OBADA. The former minister of defence federal, Bello muhammed was removed from office last year by president Jönathan and the then acting minister for federal was one Turahi Tanimu Kabiru.

Don't think he is still the acting minister. For now, no MOD federal, only for state.
