TLDR:

1. Yaradua refused to follow up on the AFRICOM agreement made between OBJ and Bush

2. Yaradua was tested with the Boko Haram insurgency. ( A ragtag fundamentalist group is suddenly transformed to a well organized militia group which is able to stage co-ordinated attacks in 4 states under the auspicious leadership of Yusuf - a man of limited military stratagem).

3. The response from the Presidency is swift and decisive; mandating the military to deal with the Islamist mob and fish and root out the leadership and sponsors in the bud.

4. Boko Haram is severely dealt a severe blow in it's infancy. The war hawks in Washington are not ready for this response. They expect Yraradau, a Northern Muslim to tow the line of moderation and use kid gloves in dealing with the insurgency thereby flaming tensions in the south and aggravating the insurgency in the north. Yaradua acts in opposition and the 3 day insurgency leads to the near annialation of the Boko Insurgency.

5. Yaradua extends the agreements to China but is also able to assert Nigeria's independence by not bowing to china's objection of Nigeria hosting the Deli Lama of Tibet. Yaradua at this point is looking like a real independent leader of the world's largest Black Nation. Not good if You are a looking for operating a strategic Military base in Africa and given the fact that the gulf of Bonny is prime real estate in launching attacks into central, west and North Africa.

6. The solution? Extermination. They did it to Patrice Lumumba and every leader in today's modern world. Hugo Chavez. The Americans prefer a more biological approach to elimination of their targets. When confronted with the Gaddafi problem, Reagan joked(seriously) about given him AIDS. Almost all of South America's Presidents in the last decade have undergone cancer treatments. Hugo Chavez was the first Victim. The Russians prefer a swift solution, radiation poisoning, the Israelis rely on swift old fashioned assassinations but the U.S. being handicapped by a U.S. law that limits the U.S. governments from operating a murder assassin unit has ti b e more sublet.
