Results of 14 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the council elections in Edo state have been released and the ruling party; the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) is reported to have won in all 14 council areas out of the 18.

[size=13pt]But the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the cancelling of the entire results over what it calls, “serious manipulation of results” by the ruling party in the state.[/size]

Briefing the media today, in Benin City, the chairman of PDP, Mr Dan Orbih, alleged that the figures released by the state’s electoral body are “clearly doctored figures, so are unacceptable.”

So far the state electoral commissioner has agreed to hold fresh elections in some local government areas of the state.

The Edo state Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) on Saturday postponed the conduct of local Government elections in Ikpoba Okha and Oredo Local Government Areas.

EDSIEC chairman; Solomon Ogoh said the elections were rescheduled due to inadequate materials.

He announced that fresh elections will be conducted in the affected areas on Thursday next week.

If PDP has evidence to demand the cancellation of any polling unit where manipulation took place, let them provide it and I am sure Edos will demand for a re-run of the election.

I for one will not support manipulation of elections!
