@ Poster Sometimes, there are some SIMs that will just refuse to work with the facility. I took mine to their office for configuration more than twice. They sent me settings via the network and it didn't still work. I called Customer Care for only God knows how many times and they kept telling me that my SIM had been activated. Eventually, I had to buy another SIM card and I got everything working same day in their Ikeja office after I had spent about 2 months trying to get the first one working. Maybe you should try and do that. |
Re: Glo 3g Problem by Nobody: 3:55pm On Apr 21, 2008 |
@ Dr. Dre It beter calling 121 than going to that there ikeja office |
Re: Glo 3g Problem by hayprof(m): 4:04pm On Apr 21, 2008 |
Their Customer cars [121] , their Ikeja Office. . What's the Difference. . .Still same Thing **Long Queues . . Total Waste of Precious Hours** -Teeeew N.B: I had to go thru Same . .way, Back then! |
Re: Glo 3g Problem by Nobody: 7:28pm On Apr 21, 2008 |
Dr. Dre: Are u browsing wit d glosecure apn(glo direct) or glo3gvideo apn (glo 3g)? |
Re: Glo 3g Problem by DrDre1(m): 8:53pm On Apr 21, 2008 |
@ Info Well, it depends on how you see it but seriously, I got tied of calling 121. At a point, I felt my number was already marked by the guys (lol) because I kept getting the same response. @ Hayprof Calling 121 or going to their Ikeja office can be quite different. If you go early enough in the morning, you may not even need to get a number as there would be very few people. It's also better because you can make your stand on your ground physically rather than just hearing this "Sir, your SIM has been activated, keep trying until it goes through. Thanks for calling, have a nice day". @ Abibio I'm browsing with the GLO 3G |
Re: Glo 3g Problem by Nobody: 12:55am On Apr 22, 2008 |
Dr. Dre: Actually d Glo 3g went today but only to cms.gloworld.com but was very slow d Glo direct is faster but the max speed i have reached is 2kbps.How is d speed at ur side is it up to expected 3.5G network speed |
Re: Glo 3g Problem by DrDre1(m): 2:05am On Apr 22, 2008 |
@ Abibio The speed sometimes may also depend on the transfer rate of the phone you're using or maybe I don't really understand what you're trying to say. I have achieved something slightly over 5kbps but honestly I don't really always watch the speed but it's better than all the other connections I have tried with my system. Please, correct me if you feel I don't understand the point you're trying to make. I just connect with my lappie through my phone. Don't really know what you mean by GLO direct. |
Re: Glo 3g Problem by Nobody: 6:32pm On Apr 22, 2008 |
@ Dr Dre, u got me rite.my phone support speeds of about 400kbps.So whats all d hype abt glo 3g(3.6 Mbps) if i cant reach speeds higher than 2kbps even though d signals if full or is it because the thing is new? |
Re: Glo 3g Problem by DrDre1(m): 8:19pm On Apr 22, 2008 |
@ Abibio Personally, I don't always believe in the speed that most of these operators claim they offer. I don't get my hopes high that much after my experience with so many of them. I usually just hope to find something with a reasonable speed and that's what GLO is giving me at the moment. It shows that the speed is about 115.2Kbps but I don't trust any of them (lol) |

Re: Glo 3g Problem by DrDre1(m): 6:33pm On Apr 23, 2008 |

Re: Glo 3g Problem by DrDre1(m): 7:18am On Apr 25, 2008 |
@ Abibio Please I would like to get the link to that thread if possible. I was shocked this morning when I connected my GLO on my second lappie and the thing was showing me 460.8 kbps And truely, the way my pages loaded was quite different from what I had been experiencing on the first system I usually use with it. |
Re: Glo 3g Problem by Nobody: 7:55am On Apr 25, 2008 |
If u connect a phone via bluetooth to a laptop,it displays a speed of 115.2 kbps and if u connect a 3g phone via cable to a laptop,u will see abt 460.8 kbps. These are the max speeds of the modem not neccessarily the speed at which u are browsing. In Nigeria, most times u are browsing at a far lower speed. The thread i think is the Drop ur research thread,it's one of info's old posts. |
Re: Glo 3g Problem by DrDre1(m): 8:08am On Apr 25, 2008 |
@ Abibio It's not always the case. I connect with a DKU cable to my other lappie and it still shows 115.2 kbps. I used the same cable with a different lappie and it shows 460.8 kbps. I will try and go through the settings on the other to see if I can get the same result Yes, I know it's the modem's max speed and not the real speed. Our service providers here are just yeye people |
