Our Effort Towards Stemming Child Trafficking - Abia CP Umuahia — ABIA State Po-lice Command said it had intensified the battle against child trafficking in the state. The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Usman Tilli Abubakar, said his men had smashed many child trafficking syndicates operating in the state especially in Aba area. Abubakar also said his men had also raided several 'baby factories' and made several arrests. The CP mentioned specifically the case of one Nkemdirim Ebere, alleged to be an operator of a baby factory home at Adaelu Road, Osisioma Ngwa. According to him, his wife, Adaeze Nkemdirim was arrested by the police when they raided the place while the man escaped. At the home, three young girls were said to have recently delivered babies at the home while the babies were sold. Abubakar gave the names of the three young girls as Eberechi Achi, Onyedikachi Okere and Gift Ohuonu. He also mentioned another home named Daughters of Zion Rehabilitation/Motherless Babies and Care Centre at Amaoji Ukwu, Obingwa. At the centre, the CP said: "Nine pregnant teenagers were found. Their names are Blessing Amadi, Amarachi Onwukwe, Amarachi Udoka, Chidinma Onukafor, Favour Dike and Precious Emmanuel. Others were Eziuche Michael, Chinasa Chukwuka, Chidera Ogbonna and Chinyere Agbakuru."
