Well i grew up in a household which lived 90% take-a-ways and the other 10% my elder sis use to cook..

My mom a full time pastor so she hardly cook just buy buy and had no time to teach me how to cook at an early age. I'm older now(19) and live away from my home, have my own little family..

My problem is every time i cook i BURN my food always (first thought it was cause i'm on bbm/wasapp, but even if i stay in the kitchen it burns somehow .

If it doesn't burn it doesn't taste good at all at all. I've tried adding spices and all but it still doesn't taste any better! I really do not what to do now ... I want my food to taste like other women's food not like i was just playing and wasting food...

Are you using a gas or electric stove? And what kinds of pots are you using?

These can greatly affect how your food turns out. If the pot is not quality, it will burn the food at the bottom before the top can cook properly. And if the stove is too hot it will also burn the bottom as well.

As for being able to make good tasting dishes, there are plenty of good resources here on NL (start here: https://www.nairaland.com/271804/looking-thread-please-look-here). Follow a recipe from start to finish until you can do it by yourself. It is great that you want to learn to cook better and care for your family. Good luck.

U dnt just add spices because u want it to taste good all good food has its own spices n Mk sure dey re put at d right time or else it will continue to burn but it doesn't matter if u re using gas,stove or firewood. I eat 99% cooked food cook by me again bbm n whatsapp will do u no good. Just give it a try for one month n see how u will improve.good luck

i didn't know how to cook till i left nigeria. Hunger taught me to cook assorted nigerian meals. no jokes.

3, use moderate fire temp.dont go too high.learn to cook slow

4, sometimes your cooking method matters.for beginners i suggest u throw everything in the pot,cook slowly and time yourself.

5, learn to measure your ingredients.the smaller and less noticeable THE BETTER...little or NO SALT is better than TOO MUCH SALT(seasoning)

You can if only you try this step..
If you're in an academic environment...why dont you look for a friend(real friend ooo & not those who rejoice at your predicaments) who cooks well & live with her. So that as she is cooking, you'll pay attention to the measurements of each spice & as at when due. Try this for a semester, then come back & mail me
