The Joint Task Force (JTF) commander Victor Ebhaleme in a statement today said that soldiers defused five bombs in Kaleri ward of London Chiki in Maiduguri, a city notorious for bomb and shooting attacks blamed on the Boko Haram sect.

In his words;

“We defused five IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices)… we believe to have been planted by members of the Boko Haram sect which would have wreaked monumental havoc if they had detonated,”

“We have succeeded in arresting six high-profile members of Boko Haram in a raid on their hideout following useful information provided us by some residents,”

The JTF commander added that the six were being questioned and gave no further details.

On Tuesday, Soldiers shot dead four suspected Boko Haram members and injured five others in the same city.

Maiduguri is the home ground of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.
