If you thought the cheque book of Marissa Mayer has been closed following the acquisition of Tumblr, think again. Yahoo have acquired PlayerScale, a company focused on delivering turn-key game features to app developers.

This recent development is coming after Google unveiled cloud-based sync tools for notification and game data which will take advantage of the Android operating system. Yahoo's new baby; PlayerScale offers the same features as Google's cloud-based sync tool. PlayerScale is cross platform and includes social networking connections with Facebook and Google+. 150 million users is fully housed in PlayerScale and increases daily by over 400,000 members per day. Now, that's a figure? Not only a figure, but it would give Yahoo the edge to be taken seriously in the mobile gaming arena and another reason for Google remain focused. The competition isn't getting any easier
