I am also a Yoruba but GOD! We really need to step up the game. What's with all these trashy films with IQ-reducing titles? Koffy Tinubu? Amope Alasela? Mama insurance? Gucci girls? Are these people for real?

And I bet over 50 per cent of these movies had a plot where the herbalist was the final solution to the whole imbroglio. I'm not saying they shouldn't portray our tradition but is that how we quickly rush to herbalists each time we have a problem? People who haven't been to Nigeria may have that perception.

I must say, Yoruba film industry has a long way to go especially because some people are highly revered in the industry probably because of their lengthy stay but they know little-than-nothing in making a good movie at this age.

They would write sickening stories that would continually throw one into the dark ages. What happened to Yoruba book adaptations? Many wonderful books are left lying fallow like Agbako nile tete, Ogbon ologbon, Eegun Alare etc. Thank God for mainframe (Tunde Kelani), books like Koseegbe and Oleku have been adapted well to our screens.

They really need to step their game up and quit all these annoying storylines with mediocre acting, especially when trying to do what they call comedy instead of 'silly moving pictures'. All of them rushed into making them immediately they saw that 'Jenifa' was successful. God! Lete just stop my rant here because I have desisted from watching Yoruba films except for few cases. I can still promote the Yoruba culture without all these (Kunle Afolayan does that with almost all his movies). I rest my case.

Btw OP, paragraph your post and arrange the nominees very well, this is an eyesore.

That is the exact reason why no one will read it. As soon as I saw the jumbled up text yesterday I left the thread... you try well-well if you read it.
