The Yoruba constitute close to 40 million people in total, found predominantly in Nigeria, where they make up around 21% of its population or roughly 35 million in 2012, making them one of the largest ethnic groups of Sub-Saharan Africa (alongside the Akan, the Hausa-Fulani and the Igbo). The majority of the Yoruba speak the Yoruba language

The group is widely known for its rich tradition, beautiful language and the respect displayed amongst each other and to outsiders.

But of late, the Yoruba ethnic group is fast becoming characterised by bleached skin, stretch marks and noise.
A large number of the Yorubas now carry this identity, mainly people from Oyo and Ogun. (Most i’ve seen are from these states).
You see a woman or man in a public place and you can tell he or she is yoruba just from what you see on their skin, assuming the language and attire isn’t giving anything away.

This people look like they have either tried bleaching creams sometime in their life or presently are trying one out, looking like the maker wasn’t sure of a complexion for them. Others are already turning red.

And then this issue of too much tiro, long and awkward eyelashes and tattoos.

And all the while, shouting or discussing with raised voices often giving the impression that a fight is taking place.

What’s going on? Why are we becoming this?

We have to stop o. Let all the “omo Oodua” talk about this.

Talk about the fact that the yoruba race is now becoming one characterised by noise, bleaching creams etc. You can't say u havnt observed any of these. And you can't insist it doesn't need talking about.
