The True Identity Of The Yoruba People by Energy48(m): 6:47pm On Dec 11, 2011 |
Do you know the name Yoruba is not the true identity of the people called Yoruba? The name Yoruba was coined by Bishop Ajayi Crowther. By his action, he limited the history of the Yoruba to the creation of the name. The result is most Yoruba can not trace their history past the creation of the name Yoruba. Making Yoruba history about 200 years old. The truth is before the name Yoruba the people had a name that went back more than 5000 years. However, by one stroke of the pen Bishop Crowther took away the complete history of the people. Visit my black-history website and discover the proper and glorious name of the people and know your TRUE identity. |

Have the Igbo got any proof or they are just speculating? Many people think they are Hebrews but they can't prove it. It is different with the Yoruba. Before Ajayi Crowther replaced their name with Yoruba, the people were called HEBREWS. So you see the Yoruba already have the PROOF in their old name that they are the TRUE HEBREWS, the Israel of God. |

Do you have any proof that the Yoruba people were originally known as the Hebrews when they migrated to West Africa (below the 10th parallel)? |
Re: The True Identity Of The Yoruba People by Energy48(m): 9:28pm On Dec 11, 2011 |
amor4ce: YES! I already said so in the OP. They were called HEBREWS. If the people were called HEBREWS before Bishop Crowther changed their name to Yoruba, what more proof do you want? |

Re: The True Identity Of The Yoruba People by amor4ce(m): 3:26am On Dec 12, 2011 |
I've gone through the sample pages and noted some observations. Remember that Israel was divided into 2 kingdoms, the northern kingdom of Israel and the kingdom of Judah. Israel was carried away into captivity by the Assyrians while the Babylonians attacked Judah. Jeremiah preached to some of the people of Judah who went into Egypt. As for Israel, consider this from 2 Esdras 13: 2 Esdras 13:39 And whereas thou sawest that he gathered another peaceable multitude unto him; and Zephaniah 3:10 From beyond the rivers of Cush, my worshipers, even the daughter of my dispersed people, will bring my offering. Also, “the nations” in page 246 – doesn’t it refer more properly to dispersal via slave trade? I have read somewhere that Yoruba might be derived from Jerubaal (Yerubaal? Judges 6:32; 1 Samuel 12:11) and elsewhere that it is actually derived from Uruoba (said to be the original pronunciation for the name Jacob). If it is the latter then the names Ewe and Yoruba would not be surprising. One more thing, have you considered how the name of the Messiah was pronounced 2,000 years ago? |
Re: The True Identity Of The Yoruba People by Energy48(m): 11:34am On Dec 12, 2011 |
Sorry amor4ce, you are confusing me. I don't see how what you are saying PROVES the Yoruba are the Hebrews. Reading what you posted, it rather CREATES DOUBT about the Yoruba being Hebrews. A peoples' identity is usually by their name. If you read the samples pages on my black history website as I suggested, you would clearly see the TRUE NAME of the people before the advent of the European Colonialists and Bishop Crowther's action that changed their name. That proper name of the people as the website shows you is the TRUE NAME of the ancient Israelites. That is what PROVES the Yoruba are the Hebrews. |

Aren't the Edomites Hebrews as well? |
Re: The True Identity Of The Yoruba People by Energy48(m): 11:33am On Dec 14, 2011 |
amor4ce: Technically YES, because Abraham was the first to be called Hebrew and Esau from whom the Edomites descended, was his great-grandson. However, when we speak of Hebrews we are talking of those children and descendants of Jacob who became a nation in ancient Egypt. Before the nation of Hebrews was born in Egypt, there was no Hebrew nation. This nation of Hebrews born in Egypt did not include the Edomites. Thus since it is this nation of Hebrews that we refer to as the Hebrews, and it did not include Edomites, the answer to your question is NO the Edomites are not Hebrews. |
Re: The True Identity Of The Yoruba People by amor4ce(m): 9:30pm On Dec 14, 2011 |
In my opinion, using the name to identify a people might not be enough if we consider the technique that has been tried by the cuckoo (your description of the current occupants of Israel). To further buttress your assertion that the Ewe and Yoruba peoples are one, a big evidence is the oral traditions, worship, and the Ifa divination. As for origin of the word Hebrew (Ewe), any chance that it is derived from Eber (the name of on of Abraham's ancestors)? |

Re: The True Identity Of The Yoruba People by Energy48(m): 6:13pm On Dec 16, 2011 |
amor4ce: Sorry bro for the delay in giving a response. You said you do not consider the name of the people is enough to identify them as descendants of the ancient Israelites and cited the fraud of modern Jews to back up your stand. YOU ARE WRONG THERE. The name is PARAMOUNT in a peoples' identity. Remember how it was Jacob's change of name to Israel that set him apart from all his relatives and began the 12 nations of Israel? The truth of the matter is, the only way people are identified anywhere in this world is by their name. In fact, the discussion we are having about the Yoruba actually stresses on the importance of a people's name as the major identifier of race. I am sure you will agree, most Yoruba people cannot for a certainty tell their history beyond the creation of the name Yoruba by Bishop Crowther. Now ask yourself WHY IS THAT? The answer is obvious. The NEW name Yoruba obscured or wiped out all their history prior to the creation of the name. Thus, by the name change alone, the people lost their identity and a major chunk of their history. Thus stressing the importance of a peoples name as the major identifier of who they are. Look at it another way. If for example, you were to travel to any place on this planet and meet white people in a jungle or an Island who for example speak German and call themselves German's you wouldn't say because they don't live in Europe they are not connected to the Germans in Europe. That will be preposterous. The fact that they are white, speak German and call themselves German is PROOF POSITIVE of their identity. Remember that, people do not by nature take up names of other people and identified themselves by it. Since the dawn of time people identify only with the name of their ancestors and jealously guard this identity. Hardly any people throughout history has ditched their name/identity and adopted the name and identity of other people. When such things happen it is through naturalisation (migration and becoming one with people of your new home), war or slavery, but never voluntarily. Therefore, we can be confident that if an African people are called Hebrews and are black as the ancient Israelites were; then certainly these are the true descendants of the Hebrews aka the ancient Israelites. Why would they call themselves Hebrews if they are not? Think about that. Oh and BTW with regard to your point about the Jews stealing the name of the Israelites. They did not. Modern Jewry is a religion based on Judaism and Judaism allows members to call themselves Jews. The Israelites were not called Jews. They were called HEBREWS. Modern Jews do not see or call themselves Hebrews. They speak MODERN Hebrew and they are Israeli and not Hebrews. That is the difference. I will try and find time and reply to your other points tomorrow. have a nice weekend. |

From what I've read, Our Father calls us Israel and Jacob as recorded in the Bible while we and other nations called us Hebrews. Also, this is not to say that the names Israel and Jacob are the actual spellings and pronunciations. Yoruba may just be the the real name instead of Jacob. If so there would be no error in this regard on the part of Bishop Ajayi Crowther as both names (Erverh and Yoruba) would be accurate. Please do keep in mind that we are on the same page. |

Re: The True Identity Of The Yoruba People by Energy48(m): 7:41pm On Dec 21, 2011 |
amor4ce: Sorry amor4ce once again for the delay in my responses. With regard to your question all I can say is, the alphabet of the ancient Hebrews is available. You can find them in numerous places on the Internet and it is quite easy to learn. Once you do, it is becomes easy to read the ORIGINAL texts found in the dead sea scrolls which is also available online. That way, you don't have to bother with translations, you can read the original and understand it for yourself. Try it if you have time, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. |
Re: The True Identity Of The Yoruba People by Energy48(m): 7:52pm On Dec 21, 2011 |
amor4ce: It was not other nations that gave Israel their national identity. The name Hebrew started with Abraham. His descendants through Isaac and jacob were collectively called Hebrews. Their home in Canaan before Jacob moved to Egypt with is family was called the Land of the Hebrews. The name Israel is mostly used by the Scribes who wrote the Bible to differentiate between the nation of the Israel which included converts to judaism and the real Hebrews. Thus the real name of the people was Hebrews as opposed to the name of the nation which was Israel. With regard to Bishop Crowther, he simply changed the name Yarriba into Yoruba. The name Yarriba was an INVENTION of the European Explorers so there is NOTHING ACCURATE about it. Crowther took an inaccurate name, polished it up and served it as the name for million so people in West Africa. Thus turning the situation from bad to worse. Thanks to Crowther, most of the peoples' history was completely WIPED OUT. |

Re: The True Identity Of The Yoruba People by Energy48(m): 9:34pm On Dec 21, 2011 |
Negro_Ntns: Sure! It all began with the English explorer Hugh Clapeprton's first contact with the Fulani people. When Clapperton met the Sultan of Sokoto; Muhammed Bello, the Sultan gave him a history lesson of the people all over West Africa. Of the people of the Old Oyo Empire, Bello mentioned them by their true and proper name to the Englishman. However, Clapperton being a European could not pronounce the African name/word properly and wrote it as Yarba (incidentally Yarba does sound like Erverh which was the name of the people and is the real name of the ancient Israelites). Later on after Clapperton died his travelling companion Richard Lander who incidentally did not meet Bello and therefore did not know the pronunciation of the name of the people of Old Oyo took Clappertons writings and whether by design or accident, changed Yarba to Yarriba. Thus the name Yarriba was born. Later, the Fulani jihad invaded and destroyed Old Oyo and scattered its inhabitants abroad. The various people in the neighbouring territories ruled by Old Oyo were now leaderless and vulnerable to attack. These turned to the Europeans Missionaries in the area, for refuge and protection. To find a common name for all these people the Missionaries in turn asked Crowther who was under their tutelage to come up with a fitting name for ALL the people. Crowther went for the name the European Missionaries already knew which was Yarriba and changed it to Yoruba. That is how the name Yoruba came about. Thus, as you can see the name Yoruba was born out of a series of errors. |

Perhaps you can use your understanding to educate us about the actual pronunciation of the words Jacob, Israel, and Yahushua. Can you tell us where in the Bible that Olodumare called them Hebrews? Did HE not call them House of Jacob/Israel? If El as in El Elyon and Israel is actually Ela, and various speakers of the Hebrew language today still pronounce the name as El, what is the guarantee that I can learn actual pronunciations over the internet? |

These Children that have been indoctrinated by the bible. I pity you all. I bet you dont even know what you are talking about. If you knew, you wont say the Yorubas were known as Hebrews. Prior to the people being refered to as Yoruba are termed Yoruba, each subset of them have had their names. For instance, we Ilajes had a Name before the advent of Ajayi Crowther or any Oyinbo. We are still known as Ilaje. We never ever had any link with the Judah or Benjamin or Joseph. We were and are refered to as Ilaje. The reason we also belong to the Yorubas is in the similarity in culture and linguistics. I am no Hebrew aND no one that lacks in his history should lump me into that silly faceless twisted history. 2 Likes |
