Fellow Nairalanders, isn't it clear that the time has come for us to agitate for a constitution that allows for independent candidates? We've been keeping faith with these politicinas for 14 years and they have proved to us time and again that they are a worthless lot.
Not even ACN or APC or whatever party will fare better cos they are all birds of the same feather. It's time we took our destiny in our own hands and start electing people without them having to go through the necessary evil of joining these evil political parties and playing by their rules. Tis my honest opinion. Independent candidates all the way!

BeraBera: Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr Sam Amadi, on Monday in Abuja assured Nigerians of increased electricity generation from 5,000 to 7,000 megawatts by 2014.

Amadi who gave the assurance during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said the increase was to meet the yearnings of Nigerians.

``By our projection, we will get up to 10,000 megawatts by first quarter of 2014, but the commission prefers to expect a much lower figure, which is 7,000.

``This is because, with what is on ground and the activities which are going on, we would have done well based on the expectations in the market,’’ he said.

Amadi also said Nigerians would soon have access to a variety of renewable sources of power, other than hydro-power generation.

``We are going to have solar and other forms of renewable power sources, because the county is making investment towards that.

``Currently, there are private firms that are licensed for solar.

``So, we believe that in the next couple of years, we should have a mixture of power source from solar, gas, hydro, wind and all that,’’ he said.

I can understand the sceptism in this thread but i believe there is light at the end of the tunnel this time around.
There is a reason why this promise have been coming from the government very frequently lately. I believe it is because these guys know what is on the ground. Unlike before when it was a mere promise, this time there are concrete infratructures on the ground . The power plants are mostly ready. The pipes to supply them gas are mostly ready too. The ungrading of the national grid to be able to handle higher capacity is almost completed. There is a reason why foreign investors are pouring in to get a piece of this cake. I see no reason why Nigeria power generation cannot reach 10,000 MW by next year.

stankezzy: so even u as a wise ibo person is joining this people to say this.during the time of yaradua nd obasanjo, how many mega watts did they generate,

So Power Generation has now become something of a "wise Ibo Igbo person"?
So a wise Igbo person is supposed to be a sycophant, replying everybody like "a beneficiary/applicant for 40-Laptops"?
Sad.

BTW: Why must you compare GEJ to those two? Do they have a PhD? Ddd GEJ die two years into office?
