Nigerians may not watch Wednesday's 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier in Nairobi due to rights issues.

Officials at Nigeria's state-owned television network NTA told KickOffNigeria.com that the rights holders are asking for an astronomical €400 000 broadcast fee to carry the game.

"It is outrageous! That is an obscene amount of money for just two hours of live transmission and at very short notice," an NTA official said.

He added that the network is still in negotiations to review the fee downwards.

"If we can get it down, and bring in other stations like AIT, and so on, we may still be able to bring the game to Nigerians," he said.

With just hours to go until the game, that is looking like a long shot
