U can't compare yekini wif yakubu in all ramifications.agreed yakubu was a fantastic striker in europe but hw well has he fared in natl duty.hw many goals did he score for SE durin his tyme.d last world cup is a pointer to dis.don't have anytin against him but he jst has badluk anytyme he plays 4 d eagles,to d extent dat 1 of his chances at d last world cup was described as d worst miss ever 4 a striker in d hist of d world cup.I still maintain my stand dat ideye is nt a striker, moreso d ukrainian league u talked abt is nt one of d top leagues in europe.no room 4 sentiments pls,u can't have like 5 goal scorin chances nd miss all nd u kal ursef a striker nd u want to score against world best spain.ideye is d odd one out.

How many time do you want me to tell you that YAKUBU IS NIGERIA'S ALL-TIME 3RD HIGHEST SCORER
? I mean, for Super Eagles, since Nigeria started football in 1950's, only two strikers (Yekinni and Odegbami) have scored more goals for Nigeria than Yakubu.

Yakubu has scored 21 goals for Nigeria.

If you don't watch football, keep quiet.

Don't mind all these Nairaland oponu. People who just open mouth and scatter nonsense around. The so-called 'not highly rated' Ukrainian league is where Brazil is calling up players from yet the 2nd top goal scorer there is 'not a striker'.
One of these days it will become necessary to introduce a logic test to vet new forum members because constantly battling against a stream of basic level nonsense from people who are to egotistic, stupid and impatient to spend a few seconds asking Google is ruining this forum. I personally might be retiring permanently from here if I can find a Nigerian forum with less mumu-ism

I want to say...spain/nigeria match will turn out to be a mere novelty game cos by then we will be sitting on a comfortable 6points (I dare anyone to take a bet) we saw an Uruguay team heavily dependent on suarez freekicks and runs...what about their GK and d rest...I put it to any1 here on paper player for player who in dat uruguay is better/superior to our guys(some of whom have played against d very best in d world) From back to front((ofcos we saw how good URU were against ghana in WC 2010) buh not dis team, its a shadow of dat 2010 team and dat which won copa america, they are fumbling in qualifiers at the moment, they are old, loosing pace, Gk is shaking common guys lugano still dey play in dz team naa even forlan haha! dz fellas have passed their prime! Nigeria we have all players below 30 oldest bin enyeama. We got mad energy, never say die attitude(we showed in calabar and Namibia), yet to loose in 17matches including en Route lifting d afcon and after, feel free to counter me tho, this is a true reality...Uru should be scared not us...spain should be wary of the threat we possess...we are a team dat don't concede much (1 or 2) spain don't score much either...Go eagles Go

By the time Spain meet Nigeria, they will be on 6 points and may parade second team, just to test other players. I believe Nigeria can squeeze a draw with Spain. Let's just get minimum of 4 points from Tahiti and Uruguay.

nigeria is playing a 4-3-3 versus tahiti's 5-4-1? seems alright as long as we don't let them counter attack cos that will be a big weakness if we let it happen

i don't see why we wouldn't use a 4-2-3-1? it's the most balanced formation so that mikel and maybe ogude can sit in front of the defence and intercept passes/distribute the ball. then we need a pacy/skillful Central Attacking Midfielder (maybe mba can fill that void?) if onazi wasnt injured he would be our CAM.

this is the starting 11 i would like to see with 4-2-3-1

@jarus & daz york.I agree wif u guys concernin yakubu, was a good striker nd 3rd highest goal scorer afta odegbami nd yekini, but at southafrica 2010,if u r objective in ur analysis u will agree wif me dat he was a complete failure,he underperformed nd thus ruined naija's chances. Den daz york dat ukrainian league u talked abt brazil invitin der players 4rm,did u watch brazil against japan? Well,de won 3-0 against a 'not good' blue samurai, can u compare dis present brazilian team with d golden days of rivaldo, roberto carlos, ronaldo? Do u tink if brazil meets a tough opposition like spain de can win? Or will de go far,dat brazillian team is nt so good.even neymar is overrrated,I watched him play.yes brazil wallopd england in d friendlies recently but england nw accordin to redknap recently, don't knw hw to play futbol.our SE can do well against dis present samba boys.well, let's watch.I rest my case.

why don't you read the whole post before you jump to conclusions? I quote from my earlier post "if onazi wasnt injured he would be our CAM"...and btw, there's a slim chance he can make it because fifa gave us till tommorow of the day after (based on your time zone) to decide whether or not he should be replaced or still come

i think ujah is good. he hasn't had many chances to prove himself. In the german league he was the top scorer in the team. Look at youtube even, he's is physically strong and holds up play well. he really can be our number 9 if ideye doesnt perform

Messi missed a crucial penalty in Champion league semi final in UCL 2012, does that make him a failure, even in that competition?

spain playing their second team might not really be the blessing in disguise u think. Remember, we are talking about the likes of cesc, cazorla, mata. These guys will give their all just to prove to del bosque that they deserve a shot in the first team.

those are just big names..the thing is, they will not link up and pass like the regular starting 11. Fair enough they will be good but names are just names. Just like England. They have big names right now and how are they doing? average against teams they should be flogging.

emiye: By my calculation, they will be joined by this other 9 teams
Ethiopia, Tunisia, Ghana, Congo, Nigeria, Egypt,Algeria, Cameroon, Senegal.

Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d'ivoire, Tunisia and Algeria will be seeded .

Unseeded will be Cameroon, Congo, Ethiopia, Egypt and senegal, One of these five will be Nigeria's hurdle to Brazil 2014 world cup.
Why will ghana and algeria be seeded and for your info libya is qualifying from the group

When Ideye begins to deliver, I think those of us that believed in him will only have bragging right.

I remember people saying same about Emenike before Nations cup and some of us that have seen him play stood by him, that he had something. Now, Emenike is Nigerians' idol.

I believe Ideye will also find his feet soon. You cant be a poo and be returning 14 goals per season in France and Ukraine.

Nigeria, along with Denmark, are the only team to have never lost a FIFA Confederations Cup match in normal time. The last time they appeared in the tournament, in 1995, the Super Eagles recorded a win and two draws, before losing to Mexico on penalties in the match for third place...Go Eagles!

I don't understand why people are talking about this match so much. It's Tahiti we're playing against. This is a team that our U20 team can easily crush. Even with 8 players, the Super Eagles can still win against them. We should be worried about Spain and Uruguay.
