Good job. It could be better presented as a user-friendly showing how the states were gradually divided from the original three/four regions. Cheers. |

that my guy is simple because those a account of people living there, population censors is mainly about were u come frm, meaning ur state of origin. 75% of people living in Lagos are not origin of Lagos. because the last 2006 censor exercise i was in lagos bt never register my name in Lagos it was register to my state which i came from. hope u understand nw why Lagos is second on the list. |

Taraba State. 27 August 1991. Gongola State. Can someone explain to me why Gongola State was scrapped? And how many States were created out of it? Or was it just changed to Taraba State? Thank you. |
Re: Nigeria's States And The Dates Of Their Creation. by Abagworo(m): 10:08am On Jun 06, 2013 |
nikkykay: Taraba State. That's part of the errors I noticed. Adamawa and Taraba were created out of the old Gongola same way Enugu and Anambra were from old Anambra. Imo and Abia were created out of the old Imo State while Delta and Edo were created out of the old Bendel State etc. 1 Like |

Oga that is not correct,CENSOR/Population Is counting of people who live in particular area, city,or country in a particular time.So If you live in Lagos get counted in Lagos. |

Ohh i did my findings Gongola State was formed on 1976-02-03 when North-Eastern State was divided into Bauchi, Borno, and Gongola states. In 1991-08-27 Gongola State was divided into Adamawa State and Taraba State. This same thing happened to d old Bendel State ( Edo & Delta States) |

We should stop relying on the 2006 census figure. It's flawed. I think every states should conduct their own head count like Lagos is attempting to do. |

Ajonel,Nawa for you sef...and what makes u think its gonna be flawless.. Each state will definitetly inflate figures and wont be a surprise to see the total population figure for nigeria competing with that of china at end of the day. |
