Governors of the 19 Northern states, under the aegis of Northern States Governors’ Forum, rose yesterday from their meeting in Kaduna, saying that election actually took place during the controversial meeting of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) in Abuja and a winner emerged.

This position contradicts the stand of Governor Jonah Jang’s faction of the NGF that no election took place during the Forum’s meeting in Abuja.

The northern governors insisted that even their colleagues who sent their deputies to represent them at NGF’s election remained bound by any decision taken at the meeting.

Answering questions from newsmen shortly after the over four-hour closed door meeting, bereft of the usual opening ceremony, Chairman of the NSGF and Niger State Governor, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, stated that, “If I am to tell you what led to the problem in the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, we will stay in this gathering till tomorrow, so I have no intension of doing that.
