Mr man, I have nothing to hide from..

If the military has committed crimes against civilians and people hide under the veil of patriotism instead of trying to get to the bottom of the issue, who really has to be ashamed.

I supported the SOE but it has to be done professionally to avoid mass civilian casualities.

Commendable I must say, at least it shows the JTF is winning the war and laid bare the spurious claims by Aljazeera that large numbers of civilians have been caught in the cross-fire.

For God's sake what type of morons are our universities turning out? We turn out grsduates that cannot connect history. For God's sake who first killed the BH leader in cold blood? All you fools kept quiet and never bothered to do as little as discuss it simply because you think it is the problem of the North. The same thing happened in Plateau state when our womderful press covered only one side of the story and never cared abt what happened to the other side whose people were also being murdered in cold blood until the whole thing went haywire. You may like what is happening, you may like the temporary peace that will come out of this exercise; you may not care what happens to the Hausa-fulanis (afterall they are muslims) but i bet you, this injustice may signal an end to the rxistence of this country. Meanehile, there is supposed to be a plan for amnesty for which a committee has been constituted; what is bothering us is how this committee is going to function in the face of all these bombardments by the military. We should not forget that just recently, the military shut down a section of Platrau state looking for armed Fulani herdsmen: has there been any change? Let us learn from what transpired bw the Beroms and the Fulanis, who, after fighting for so long with each side suffering severe casualties, finally agreed to dialogue and give peace a chance. The area is relatively calm today. We must pursue amnesty for these guys, not only to who they are and why they have taken up arms agaist the state, but also to use it as an opportunity to apologise for our wrong. However, those who suffered losses as a result of this avoidable insurgency must be properly and adequately compensated. This is the only way we can learn from the ills of the past which will serve as catalyst for dealing with similar cases of injustice like the Odi and Zaki Biam massacres. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

How nice of you to forget the fact that BH leader was killed after his group went on a killing spree in Bauchi, they killed 100s of people in cold blood for no reason whatsoever. That was how it started, the govt didn't just wake up one morning and decided to kill him, but yhe likes of you will conveniently ignore that. The number of typo errors in your post shows how angry you were while typing that and it says a lot about you. You are obviously a BH sympathizer. Give them amnesty for what? What exactly are they fighting for? Offering them amnesty was a big mistake by the govt and BH were foolish enough to reject it. See a stupid northerner talking about Nigeria dividing, who will lose? Aljazeera should bury its head in shame. Our local tv stations should spread their tentacles to many nations and help to tell our story rather than allowing these foreign stations to do that. These foreign stations, like CNN, Aljazeera, are only interested in propagating falsehood and painting us in bad light..."God don catch them"...sympathisers of Boko haram

However, "their days" were also over when former president executed all the crude boko haramites and their leader in the same Borno. But we all know what happened after that.

With the publicity they have given those blood su.cking vampires - I won't be surprised if they come back more sophisticated and unleash worse terrors in the nearest future. And now that the international community is involved - it's going to get scarier, to be honest. I can bet my last ps on it that some intelligence agencies are probably working covertly with them now(that's if they weren't doing that in the past).

Really?
When they were killing people for no reason, it wasn't injustice but justice eh? The same amnesty that they rejected and instead claimed that they're the ones to grant Nigeria amnesty. Which wrong? So they haven't wronged Nigerians as a whole? Finally, at the first bold-ed, before you insult someone, look in the mirror.

The leader of extremist group, Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau has claimed in a statement that his group had “not committed any wrong to deserve amnesty.”

“Surprisingly, the Nigerian government is talking about granting us amnesty. What wrong have we done? On the contrary, it is we that should grant you pardon,”
he said, listing what he described as the state’s “atrocities” against Muslims.

The Hausa language audio recording was distributed by email in a manner consistent with previous Boko Haram messages, and the voice was similar to that of previous Shekau statements.

President Goodluck Jonathan last week formed a panel to look at the possibility of offering an amnesty deal to the Islamists, whose insurgency has left more than 3 000 people dead since 2009, including killings by the military Joint Task Force (JTF).

Some northern religious and political leaders have been urging President Jonathan to grant an amnesty to members of Boko Haram as they say the army’s response to the insurgency is not bringing peace.

In 2009, former President Umar Musa Yar Adua granted an amnesty to thousands of militants wreaking havoc in the oil-rich Niger Delta in the south.
The violence fell dramatically but there are worrying warnings of further unrest in the Delta, analysts say.

It's not about winning or losing - it's about if ideological and guerrilla warfare can be crushed by using conventional means. It has never happened before; and I doubt if this is going to be different. That's the honest truth.

You cannot have it both ways
You guys have been saying -
kill them all
Soldiers should use them as target practice etc
The Northerners have been abetting BH
So if they supported BH all along, how come they are happy that the soldiers have come to their rescue?

Nobody sane person would reject the killing of criminals. The fear has always been that innocent people would be killed
That is the truth. Whenever things like these occur, the crimials leave first and leave innocents behind

If Jonathan wss sure that innocent people were killed by the military in his home state (Odi invasion)
why do we pretend that innocent people are not now in the line of fire from the same military in the North?
