June 12 Annulment: How Has Nigeria Fared? by topeorekoy(m): 8:41am On Jun 12, 2013 |
In the 1993, Late Chief MKO Abiola contested the for post of the president of Nigeria under the political party Social Democratic Party (SDP) with his running mate as Baba Gana Kingibe and defeated the presidential candidate for the National Republican Convention (NRC), Alhaji Bashir Tofa hands down as Nigerians trooped out massively to vote for Late Chief MKO Abiola and SDP. Nigerians were in joyous mood that the after so many years of military leadership, they have finally voted for the “MAN OF THE PEOPLE” The 1993 election was tagged “The most peaceful election ever held in Nigeria since Independence”, “The freest and fairest election in Nigeria since independence” On June 24 1993, General Ibrahim Babangida annulled the election that should have brought into power Chief MKO and would have shaped the future of Nigeria forever. 20 years after the election and 14 years into our renascent democracy, Nigeria is getting into deeper troubles every day. Militant organizations have been continuously putting knives on things that held us together and the centre cannot hold. But of all these ethnic organizations: OPC, MASSOB, MEND, BOKO HARAM etc Rate the presidents and Heads of State since 1993. Ernest Shonekan Gen. Sanni Abacha Gen. Abubakar Abdulsalam Rtd Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo Umar Musa Yar’ Adua Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Should Late Chief MKO Abiola be referred to as “EX-PRESIDENT”?? http://topeorekoya..com/2013/06/june-12-1993-annulment-20years-after.html

We re evolving and emerging !!! We would have surpassed this stage if Abiola was allowed then in 1992. Atleast, our democracy and awareness woulda surpassed this level of maturity ..... !!! |

@OP what kinda question is that? u asking whether the late mko be referred to as ex president. when u well know he was never sworn in, na so dem dey become ex president? between does it matter any longer? isnt it high time we move on as a country instead of whining about a past we cant fix? a lot of events have contributed to how nigeria has fared since then, a chunk of which does not have any particular bearing to june 12 annulment. |

yuzedo: Well Banana Island part of Nigeria is ok and i want to thank President Goodluck for bringing Facebook to the country.are you kidding? how would you say Jonathan brought facebook to Nigeria?Ptseew. even the clamoured GSM AND LINES are outright achievements of Late Abacha. he suggested whole package at N5000 to investors or nothing more. only for the investors to re-in troduce it as N30,000 for lines and N25,000 for the pole -like motorola during Obasanjo` Time!!! PRESENTLY BY VIRTUE OF COM PETITION, WE`VE GONE BACK TO Abacha`s proposal: line= N200, Phone= N1,500- N4000 total is approximately less than N5k! 1 Like |

booqee: make i hear word joor. Except his recent attempt to curb the menace called boko haram, GEJ has done nothing tangible to swell the head.honey GEJ is all Nigeria need at this point in time. Hate his style of leadership or love it, yet WE KNOW the truth. Nigeria haven't had leadership better under her history like we are having under Dr. GEJ-and he's our best ever president with a guaranteed 2nd term mandate. mko isn't/wasn't meant to be for Nigeria, he isn't our Joshua, i must admit his Election played alot in shaping our democracy. But NIGERIA has fared Far-better |

I Think So, He should be reffered to as ex-president because he actually won was annulled. But what is the need of calling him Ex-President when he didn't rule. MKO Abiola was a good man truly but we should just let it be instead of asking if he should be called Ex-President every June 12. |
