The Role -  Purpose:

 A member of the Finance Function.
 Leadership of the performance management aspect of the programme office process through:
 Ownership of the tracking model, the integral data and the comparison of expected and actual results.

Context:
 Guinness Nigeria Plc (GNplc) is the biggest market within Diageo Africa. F05 turnover is forecast at £190m and Trading Profit £46m.
 GNplc is a fully integrated business including demand and supply operations with the market leading stout brand.
 GNplc operates in 4 locations, with  an HQ in Lagos and breweries in Lagos, Benin and Aba. The Commercial Director and finance team are based in the HQ in Lagos which is the centre for control.
 Nigeria is a highly competitive market with Nigerian Breweries Plc being the market leader and SAB Miller showing an increasing  competitive interest.
 GN has completed a review of its current activities over the past years and identified five key initiatives to work on toward the goal of becoming Number 1 by 2010.
 Project Leaders have been identified to deliver these initiatives and a Programme Director to manage the overall performance.
 This role is required to operate in a complex matrix reporting structure, having a dual reporting line to the Financial Development and Planning Manager and Head of Business Re-Engineering (the Programme Director) and communicating regularly with the Project Leaders and others across the wider business.

Main Activities:

Ongoing -
 Prepare timely and accurate management reports and ensure the information is clearly understood by cost centre managers.
 Ensure robust process and principles applied for recharging of  any  services and benefit tracking against business cases.
 Manage the process for the preparation of LE’s and Plans.
 Ensure robust process for bringing together the “End to End” functional costs, providing insights and analysis
 Preparation of Strat Plan/LE and co-ordination of all Diageo reporting.
 Development of management reporting to meet the needs of the business.
 Financial resource on S&OP programme with a brief to ensure monthly updates of financial position and management of profit protection plans.
 Ensuring that CARM action plans are in place and implemented by monthly review and continuous monitoring with senior management. Post implementation, to ensure that processes are adhered to.
 To contribute to  the review and assessment of the finance department in terms of capabilities. Assist in drawing up recommendations for individual development plans.
 Work on Decision support priorities as they arise in respect of key projects and major spend categories.
 Assist in working with senior management to ensure cost management plans and procurement effectiveness plans are in place.
 Link with BR to ensure that agreed action plans and recommendations are implemented.
 To work closely with the Gbosa Project Director to ensure the financial delivery of plans.
 To work closely with procurement to ensure that spend is optimised and that we use effective efficient processes.

 KPI and financial tracking using the tracking model with material variances highlighted to Programme Managers, Head of Business Re-Engineering & Finance Development & Planning Manager
 Financial modelling and reporting on progress towards becoming Number 1.
 Investigation of variances with Programme Managers and Project Leaders and where appropriate with other members of the business to provide understanding of commercial and financial performance.
 Support the Finance function in migrating the No. 1 model into an overall business performance model.
 Provide financial input into scenario development when KPIs or initiatives need reviewing.
 Communication of performance and corrective actions to the required stakeholders.
