Members of the Oyo State Security Outfit otherwise known as “Operation Burst”, yesterday illegally detained Yinka Gbadebo, President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, in Ibadan, the state capital.

The NANS leader was leading a march to the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, in Ibadan, to protest the death of their colleagues who died in an automobile accident en route to the troubled University of Uyo, UNIUYO, in Akwa Ibom State.

Operatives of “Operation Burst” reportedly fired teargas to disperse the protesters, while Gbadebo and six other protesters were severely beaten, detained for two hours before they were released.
When contacted, the Commander of “Operation Burst” said “I am not aware of the incident, so I have no details please. Thank you”
