Building is an enclosed space for the use and protection of mankind. Example of buildings include schools,hospitals,churches, mosques,commercial and industrial buildings, public buildings, residential and housing estates etc and infrastructural facilities, such as estate.

THE NEED FOR BUILDING AS A PROFESSION
Building(shelter) is critical to human existence and the need to master and, overcome its complexity and complication demands that its production and maintenance requires, the involvement of a particular discipline or group not only to continue to develop but to be dynamic in its technology, and management. We identify the BUILDERS as this group.

Am oluwatobi. an undergraduate at unilag studying building tech/construction.
I will like to know, how to transfer accurately with dimension from paper to proposed site

Provided you can read your dimesion on paper with the unit, then use your measuring tape to transfer it with the same unit.

In order that the community can have confidence that the building that is produced is functional, safe and comfortable, there is need for an institution(organization) to be identified for this purpose. It is the medium by which the training of those in practice and those aspiring to be builders can be identified and monitored. It is also the medium through which the products of Building research and development can be disseminated.

A Builder is a person who has appropriate academic training in the science, technology and management process of producing and maintaing building, as well as sufficient hands on experience, and statutorily registered by the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria(CORBON). He may also be involved in Building Education, Research and development.
A Professional Builder is a specialist that has received an approved standard of Professional Training and Practice in Construction Technology, Building Production Management, Building Surveying, Maintenance Management, Estimating and Tendering, Building Services, Construction Management, Project Management, e.t.c.

pls mr segzy how can we join niob as a student, and will they give us any certificate for workstudy

As a student you can partake in the conference too, i think the student will pay btwn 3,000 to 5,000.i will confirm that . After the conference you will have conf. Materials and certificate.

You can join NIOB as a student but it is better you join after NYSC.

I also finished from FUTMINNA, greatest FUTMITES. What of big jimoh, small jimoh, olawuyi, mr angbo, mr. Aloa, mr. Ezekiel,mr. Wuna etc and finally prof. Muazu, wat level are you?

-Im in my year two, dont realy know some of those lecturers, above mentioned. But Mr Alao (the building services lecturer), Mr Ezekiel, Dr. R.A Jimoh(Material Science), etc, are all there, and are greatly impacting superb building skillz on us..
