Ningbo horse is a company which sells generators and as you can imagine, their sales must be rocketing! I can’t even imagine what their call center must be like - chaos! hehe. Anyway, there is a list of things to consider when buying a generator and for the publics knowledge, here is the list:
• See a generator as an investment like a vehicle. Would you purchase one at a supermarket? Simple reason why we say NO! A generator is a moving part and requires maintenance. Have you ever seen stock of spare parts and service personnel operating and servicing generators in a supermarket bakery? This is one of the major reasons we have not yet supplied to supermarkets or chain stores that does not specialize in electrical equipment. As they do not have the adequate backup support.
• How far is your generator supplier from your premises? For when technical backup is required? Horse has branches in most major cities in Nigeria, and 20--30 agents’ countrywide.
• Will there be spare parts? Horse has been in close relationship with our spare parts suppliers for many years now. And has collected a wide range of parts for all our models.
• Make sure your supplier has the right information when supplying you with a generator.
• When purchasing a power plant for larger businesses make sure your supplier does either a full assessment or do a power data log. This will save you from buying a too large generator. Which in the end will damage your engine. Simple explanation. If one steps on a clutch of a vehicle and then take the fuel up to 6000RPM the engine will get damaged because it is not taking any load on the engine. All engines are designed to operate under varying load, ranging from the maximum down to the minimum. Problems occur when light loading (min load) is sustained for long periods of time resulting in the engine not getting up to its normal temperature. Oil in the cylinder that is normally burnt is heated and a lacquer is formed on the cylinder liner. If the light loading continues, visible blue smoke will appear and the engine will require service work to deglaze the liner or replace it.
• How long has your supplier been supplying generators? Will they still be in the market in time to come? Or will the same thing happen. Many companies that do not specialize in Generators started importing generators because they wanted to hit the get rich quick button. After the power came back on again they suffered
to sell their stock from their back yard, and had try and re export it. Today you can’t even call for backup. Horse has started business in 1987 and will continue to supply our products throughout Nigeria and the rest of the world.
• Make sure the engine HP or KW is enough to carry the load of the alternator. We have seen this many times as manufacturers are trying to cut prices. The end story is a blown engine that could not handle the load.
Guys, if you have any query or want to import generator, we can give you competitive price!
