I've read severally on the internet that the name, 'Kanye' is an Igbo name which was possibly passed down from Kanye's Igbo slave ancestors. This is in line with some of the few African Americans who still bear Igbo names and surnames such as Ebo (Igbo), Cheoma (Chioma), Amaka or Armaka, Odom, Chimere (Chimere is Neyo's middle name) etc. Kanye's full name is Kanyechike which in Igbo means 'Let's Give God the power' while 'Kanye' itself means 'Let's give'

If his Igbo ancestry is true, Kanye would have searched for and given his daughter a beautiful Igbo name, at least to preserve her african ancestry. What happened to Ujunwa West, Ada West, Nneka Donda West, Ogochukwu Donda West? Surely, any of the above name combinations would have been beautiful instead of the ridicule being made out of the baby's name.

Donda is Kanye west's late mother's name and I'm in full support of the initial plans (or would I say it was a rumor?) of Kanye to name his daughter after his mom. Kanye's father was never there for him and his mom was a bedrock in his life. She made him what he is today. It then follows that Kanye should have named his daughter after his mom as a way to honor and remember her and appreciate her support and inspirations.
