Wimbledon don show, Good times. Draws out. Poor Federer to meet Nadal in Quarters. This years prize fund stands at an eye-watering £22.6million, up 40% on last year. The singles champions will pick up a cool £1.6million and even first-round losers will pocket £23,500 for their troubles. (hmmm, my pikins must play tennis) Nadal and Novak Djokovic have combined to win 11 of the most recent 13 Grand Slam titles. Those two plus Federer have collected 31 of the past 33, and when you add in Murray (who won one of the other two), that quartet sure seems likely to produce this year’s champion at the All England Club. Djokovic won Wimbledon in 2011, and Nadal has two titles plus three runner-up finishes. Will be worth watching how Nadal, who’s seeded only fifth, fares a year after his surprising second-round loss to Lukas Rosol, who was ranked 100th at the time. And of course, There are other men capable of making deep runs and maybe even pulling off a significant upset in the second week — Grand Slam runners-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Tomas Berdych, 2009 U.S. Open champion Juan Martin del Potro, and good servers Marin Cilic and Milos Raonic all come to mind — but really, who are we kidding here? Dem no reach. As for the chics, Serena Williams is already the runaway favourite, and her status will only be underlined by a draw that puts her in the same half as the talented but underpowered fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska. The three women who were are most likely to discomfort Williams - Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka and Petra Kvitova - are all in the other half, so will have to reach the final if they want a shot at her. My problem with tennis is we keep hearing same names for many years. Na so so Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Sharapova and the Williams sisters. They no dey discover new talents? And why organize an elaborate competition when you already know who will win? |

Actually there are: have you heard of Azarenka(Australian Open 2012 and 2013 winner and several WTA Titles), Radwanska,Kivitova(Wimbledon Champion 2011) etc. For men, Djokovic, Berdych, Del Potro etc The names you mentioned are like the Messis and Ronaldos of Tennis, that does not mean there are not good footballers like Hazard, Goetze Carzola etc. 1 Like |

This is sports, there will always be dominant figures a cut above the rest, doesn't mean they shouldn't give others a chance to shine. Btw, Did we know Sam stosur will win the US open in 2011 or that Li Na will clinch the french open of that year? They for kuku give am to Serena or sharapova. |
