I know what a diplomatic passport is, but what is an official passport? These people should just use words that make things plain instead of using words that can be exploited by funny officials? Are there unofficial passports?

I believe those two words means almost the same, just another redundant use of words, I think.

Official and Diplomatic Passport only! The OP is not even better. Illiteracy is a disease o. No wonder Nigerians are messed up at the embassy of these countries

An official passport is a passport which is issued to someone who must travel internationally on official state business. These passports are issued specifically to people who need to travel, rather than to people who are being assigned or posted overseas. For people who are being assigned overseas for state purposes, a diplomatic passport is issued. Official passports are usually a different color from regular passports, to make them easier to identify, and they do not entitle their bearers to any special privileges.

Official passport is issued to individuals or group representing a country officially in an international seminar, training or event.

Maybe you are right, but when going on an official, state business to another country, then you need a diplomatic passport. Hence, the reason I used the word 'ALMOST' and not 'OUTRIGHTLY'.

Mainly for diplomats and some professional bodies...

Ordinary citizens are under standard passport...

Confirm at immigration website

So all government workers have a passport called 'official' passport?

Maybe you are right, but when going on an official, state business to another country, then you need a diplomatic passport.

Diplomatic passport is issued to politicians and diplomats. official passport is issued to technocrats, high level civil servants, security officers e.g army, police etc traveling to another country for govt interest.

Again..not in all cases, an individual or group of individuals can travel with their green passport but in an official capacity, though the visiting country's immigration could be notify about the visit.

The title of this thread should have been 'South Africa Now Visa-Free to Holders of Nigerian Official or Diplomatic Passport Holders'. The current title suggests to a lay-man who hasn't read the article that he/she does not need a visa to travel to South Africa. This is why it is misleading.

No mind them. Is either they don't understand what the agreement is all about themselves or they have devised the title as a means of pulling in crowd to the thread (since it looks more appealing and attractive to the eyes).

CONTENT(with juicy & catchy title) + TRAFFIC = MONEY

Diplomatic passport and official passport simply connote looters of public funds and their cohorts. The regular citizens that are constantly being violently raped socio economically are excluded. This shouldn't make front page neither is it a news cos visa regime was never meant for them! cry cry
