NaijaPikinGidi:

What is the problem with having little or no communication coming out of there? The commanders on ground have a strategy and clear objective of disabling the information channels open to BH. Mil-intel has been effective in this regard. Are you aware that locals have now boldly been providing the army with word of mouth intel about BH. This wasn't possible before now. A army in control of battlefield information always has the upper hand ... with the ability to take enemies on by suprise. Please don't go into what you don't know about. What is the root cause of the BH insurgency? From what I know they are no longer potent groups! While BH is formally an illegal group MEND is not currently an armed group! So for all you may know the army has succeeded in lesser time than was projected.

Even Malema and the AWB are allowed to open their mouths! Freedom of speech does not extend to freedom of violence. MEND can talk but it ends at talk. Period.

Why would they instil fear outside of the battleground? You under-rate the battle-harden Nigerian Army at your own risk. It is not usually for me to speak on certain things, I am usually restrained. But check for what you can find online.

I have a dossier on SA. I know info that is witheld, but I can't just spew it. A lot may be sensitive. I only play around with the low sensitive, everyday civilian stuff. So when you talk of poverty I know what's happening that side. Do you know the number of shack settlements in South Africa? Do you know that it is only South Africa I know of that have detached purpose-made walless toilets? Why have toilets without a single wall? What can be left of a person's dignity after sitting under rain and sunshine just to pass feaces/shit in public view? Yet it is currently the biggest economy in Africa with a lower population profile than than Nigeria?

Can I ask you a question and answer honestly.

Why can you not post pictures to match Southy?

Do you honestly believe that we are free in Nigeria and that our government is doing right by us.

In that thread you complain about, Southy people posted their pictures.

Where are your pictures?

Coma_Berenices: Hidden truth - despite what we have been told, Twelve African countries are ranked among the 75 least corrupt nations in the world, according to the 2012 index published on 5 December by Transparency International.

http://www.rnw.nl/africa/article/12-african-countries-rank-top-75-anti-corruption-index

As published by our top partner allAfrica

Published annually, the Corruption Perceptions Index draws upon a range of data sources to determine how corrupt countries' public sectors are perceived to be. On a scale from 100 (highly clean) to 0 (highly corrupt), two-thirds of all countries scored below 50. This year's survey includes 176 countries, down from 182 in 2011.

The top eight in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) in 2012 also led the list in 2011, with approximately the same global rankings, ranging from 65 to 43. Liberia – at number 11 in sub-Sahara with a score of 41 – saw its global ranking rise 16 points – from number 91 last year to 75 in 2012.

Botswana, Cape Verde, Mauritius, Rwanda, Namibia, Ghana and Lesotho led the SSA rankings, along with South Africa, which dropped two places this year – to nine from seven. Gambia, which was ninth last year, dropped this year to 21 in SSA and 105 globally. Tunisia, which is grouped with Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries, is tied with Liberia at 75 on the global rankings.

Nigeria and Kenya both received the low ranking of 139, compared with 143 for Nigeria and 154 for Kenya in 2011. Cameroon, the Congo Republic (Brazzaville) and the Central African Republic are ranked 144. Angola is 157, DR Congo 160 and Equatorial Guinea 163. Crowding the bottom among the most corrupt in the world are Chad (163), Sudan (173 and Somalia (174, last).

For the rankings (SSA/Global) and scores for all SSA countries in the index, see full article originally published as 'Africa: Twelve Countries Rank in Top 75 on Anti-Corruption Index' here.

Dear Coma_Berenices, you definitely bring a whole new dimension to the debate and this is what makes virtual interactions like this to come alive. If you don't mind please go a step further by giving these excerpts some personal context. Except where you are totally aligned with the actual view presented. More like unpackng some of the figures/data for better understanding.

You asked for pictures and truths. What I have posted so far are facts, which you asked for. You said "truths", not views. If the pictures need explaining, I will explain. I think they have been pretty straightforward so far.

What I find interesting about Kenya is that they used to be one of the most corrupt nations in Africa. They still are corrupt, but they have worked hard on it. They are going places.

Governments never say enough about African civilisation, astronomy and science?

What do think about Mali, Timbuktu and the Dogon?

I think it's an inspirational story that should be told more...

___

http://www.ufoevidence.org/topics/dogon.htm

The Dogon and the Sirius Mystery
"Several specialists now claim they have found the long-sought "final evidence" of visits made to earth by ancient astronauts. The myths of the Dogon tribesmen of Mall, West Africa, contain astronomical knowledge which the native people could have neither learned by themselves nor guessed. Obviously, the researchers say, some more advanced civilization told them. These fascinating Dogon legends speak of Jupiter's four moons and Saturn's rings, which were not seen by human beings until the invention of the telescope. They speak of the star Sirius and of a pair of invisible companions. One of them circles Sirius every fifty years, the legends declare, and is made of a metal that is the heaviest thing in the universe. Astronomers have discovered that such an object (called "Sirius-B"wink does exist but only the most sophisticated and sensitive instruments -- unavailable, of course, to the Dogons -- can detect it." from The Sirius Mystery, by James Oberg

Look at my second or third comment on this thread and you will find some Nigerian pictures I posted. If you had read my initial post you'd also see where I stated reasons for starting this thread. If the topic of the thread is strictly about military matters for example why should a member keep insulting others and posting provocative things not related to the Military focused arguments? My posting Nigerian pictures would have meant also going against the agreed rules of the debate. That the debate was tilting towards Nigeria's military did not provide an "aggrieved" South African a license to derail the entire thread! There had to be some mutual respect.

NaijaPikinGindi, You've been threatening to expose South Africa for a while now. What is it about South Africa that is hidden, anyone can do a Google search to find many stories about crime, poverty, rape etc, you can find stats on South Africa easily online, YouTube has many videos of our slums, cctv films of robberies taking place etc. Go to any SA news-site, you'll find mainly negative stories about SA, even here on Nairaland you find threads depicting SA in a negative light. Each day on our news we see people living in shacks and poverty. The image below shows that SA has many people in slums, but its not in the majority as you're suggesting.

Yes - I worked in Botswana for two months in 2011. They took me through their management of the diamond industry (on the government side). They seem to be up there with the best in terms of actually managing the industry. Think a lot of Afrcan governments could learn from them.

I spent one mont in Ethiopia. They are seriously undersold. The country poor, but they are determined. They now send their young people overseas to be educated, which is great.

Bros - simply post some more pictures. I don't see why this needs to be complicated. Match them.

I cannot sit here and listen to you saying other people are pulling us down when I am oppressed by GEJ. It don't work like that bro.

Welcome ZetDee! Maturity would require that in the face of provocative comments by some of "we" folks, one still had to exercise great restraint. I could have used certain materials to counter CraigB but I chose not to ... I couldn't be seen to be violating the need to keep to the topic of the military thread. I am sure you saw how things then deteriorated. Even the talk of squaring-off on a new thread was not heeded.

So here you are ... speak your mind and enjoy whatever debates you'd love to engage in. It must not hide truths or facts. We must learn from whatever we say to ourselves. Lies and half-truths will taken through a stress-test.

In fact, it says here that Botswana is the best governed country in Africa .

Botswana and Mauritius, I suppose.

What is your solution to ending your GEJ oppression? And why is GEJ singling you our for oppression? We have basically said the same thing ... react immediately and appropriately to counter/correct lies and misrepresentation made out of mischief or ignorance. However, one will need to evaluate the person in the argument so as to decide if a reaction is worthwhile.

In fact, this story of African civilisation is virtually unknown to a lot of Africans. I was surprised when I was in South Africa that a lot of them learnt about Great Zimbabwe at the same time as I did. Never been to Mali, but I wonder if they know about Mali's story...(just thinking out loud)

A bit of great Zimbabwe. Africa's hidden civilisation story. Not told as often as it should. And then some people say the place was built by aliens or the Chinese; and not by Africans undecided
