United Nations Senior Official Declares For Anambra 2014 by chino24: 2:39pm On Jun 26, 2013
Secretary to Anambra State Government (SSG), Oseloka Obaze, who formally joined the governorship race of Anambra State at the weekend said the state has regained its lost glory.

Obaze, who assumed office as the SSG barely one year ago said with Governor Peter Obi’s administration, everything has virtually fallen in place for good.

On Obi’s administration’s most outstanding achievement, he said: “Five, six months ago, when you mention the name, Anambra, what followed was negative. Today, what follows is compliment. In the last couple of months, Anambra State came tops in the NECO examination; the best student all over the federation, we came tops in the WAEC exams, producing the best student”.

Obaze also added: “A couple of months ago, UNN graduated 18,000 students, the best student, Roseline Ejindu, is from Anambra State. The dividend, the results are beginning to show. We are funding education seamlessly; we are funding security seamlessly; the roads, the same thing. We are outside the oil sector and a state with the highest foreign direct investments”.

Also in terms of resources and saving, he said, the state has tangible assets both liquid and otherwise in investment compared to other states; and among the 36 states Anambra ranked third among least indebted because it does not borrow in any way.

According to him, there is vibrancy in running the economy and the democracy. Obaze said taken a holistic view of the state the state has done well.

That is partly why, he argued, the World Bank mandated Oxford University to take a study of the relationship between Governor Obi’s government and the schools that will become a model of how to handle similar situation not only in the country but in the whole of Africa.

According to him, Obi extended his managerial skill to the entire South East where for the first time in many years, the people now speak with one voice on issues of national critical importance.

Obaze who was pulled out of his United Nations job and made SSG is believed to be one of those Governor Obi might back as governorship candidate later this year was also asked about his Governorship ambition and he responded: “In furtherance to my personal commitment to public service and having been encouraged by well-meaning Anambrarians and close associates following due diligence and introspection, I have this week commenced formal exploratory talks on my possible candidacy for the governorship of Anambra State in 2014. I am consulting with the state leaders, APGA state executive and all key stakeholders, particularly those in Anambra North senatorial zone. In the weeks ahead, I will provide further details.”

Most likely the next governor of the great state of Anambra. The coming of Peter Obi ended the politics of moneybags in Anambra. Oseloka is a fine technocrat that will take up the torch to fine tune the foundations already laid by Obi. Continuity in government program is what we all want.

All these are long English, Almost Every contestant from Anambra State has an intimidating academic and career record.
The real question is what is the man bringing to the table?
Where does he want to take the state?
What are his ideals?
What is his vision?
What is his take on our major problem, our local economy and comparative advantage?
Where has he demonstrated this drive and his prowess?
How does his vision compare to what others like Soludo are selling?

And please no word about him being from North, South, left or right. Quota is for Abokis, we are too sophisticated for that in Alaigbo.

This man is not in touch with Anambrarian,he has been living abroad for many years and how do the Op think that he will ever win the big men out there who are more qualified than Oseloka Obaze. Oseloka Obaze may be Gov Obi's choice but unfortunately,he is not anambrarian's choice and beside,APGA is doomed.

You guys like to dream alot. Why dont u try and understand that Soludo cannot win PDP primaries and as such, there is no room for him to even win general election as he cannot contest and win in a dying party.

if apga is doomed and pdp is a dying party in anambra according to you which party would clinch the governorship?

PDP is not a dying party. In fact, they are very potent in anambra. when i said 'dying parties',i meant those parties that are being faced with INEC de-registration exercise. APGA is actually doomed because their problem seems un-resolvable till Dec 23 when election must have finished. So the potent parties that will fight the guber battle are PDP,ACN and LP.

The man is a technocrat from United Nations that will take up the mantle and continue with the foundations laid by Obi. As for Awka, the UN Masterplan is being implemented and giving the city a good look coupled with the bubbling hospitality industry, so many roads within the state capital is being reconstructed, expanded and new ones being built. Urban renewal is equally taking place in Onitsha.

Oseloka is the next governor.
