North Shielding Al Mustapha From Justice by OPCNAIRALAND: 5:48am On Aug 15, 2013
A retired police commissioner, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Babankowa, Wednesday declared that “the steps taken by the Lagos State Government on the persecution of the former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, have the potential of consuming the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Babankowa urged the Lagos State Government to retrace its steps, pointing out that the issue has the capacity to rekindle the distrust between the people of Hausa/Fulani extraction, on one side, and the Yorubas, on the other.“The way and manner the North received this serving military officer on his home coming and the calibre of highly placed individuals that received him in audience was instructive that the region and the silent majority are solidly sympathetic to him," he said.Addressing journalists at his residence, Babankowa added: “From what I have seen so far, I have no doubt in my mind that this current step would harm the relationship across borders against the backdrop of interpretation and understanding of a layman who are simply in the majority here.“I have seen the case file and the grounds for appeal by the Lagos State Government.

It would be safe to say that they are trying to exhaust all legal means to satisfy the Abiola family in particular and the Yoruba race in general. But the danger inherent in such judicial expedition is the risk of the relationship with our people.”Babankowa said the decision of the Lagos State Government to appeal Al-Mustapha's acquittal at the Supreme Court might not be unconnected to the resolve to satisfy Abiola family, but cautioned that “while doing that, conscious steps should be applied to avoid harming the larger interest."On the registration of APC, Alhaji Babankowa said: “The days of PDP in power are numbered, and we are waiting patiently for the right time to kick them out of power and we are doing our best to knit together a strong and united opposition party. We are equally conscious of saboteurs who feel threatened by the growing strength of the new mega opposition party across the country.“PDP has nothing to show for the whole length of period they had dominated the political circus and we believe the time is ripe to call their bluff and save the system from further bastardisation.

"Meanwhile, following the disclosure by the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, that his ministry had appealed against the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which discharged and acquitted al-Mustapha and Mr. Lateef Shofolahan, over the murder of Kudirat Abiola, a copy of the filed notices of appeal obtained by THISDAY yesterday, showed that the appeal was filed on 14 grounds at the Supreme Court.Al-Mustapha and Shofolahan, a personal assistant to late Kudirat were convicted and sentenced to death by hanging for the murder by Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos High Court on January 30, 2012.But the Court of Appeal, Lagos, on July 12, this year set aside the judgment and quashed the death sentence passed on both al-Mustapha and Shofolahan.

Though Ipaye had informed journalists, at his ministry’s monthly media briefing on Law and Order in the state that he had filed two separate notices of appeal against the judgment, he, however, declined to give details. However, copies of the notices of appeal obtained showed that the state government had filed six grounds of appeal with respect to al-Mustapha and eight with respect to his co-defendant, Shofolahan.Ipaye, in the appeal, brought pursuant to section 233(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), argued that the Court of Appeal erred in law by discharging and acquitting the two men, when the evidence linking them to the crime was not materially challenged. He contended that the contradictions in the testimonies of the prosecution’s star witnesses, Barnbas Jabila (Sgt. Rogers) and Abdul Mohammed (Katako), were not sufficiently substantial to warrant the acquittal of both al-Mustapha and Shofolahan.According to him, the testimonies of PW2 (Jabila) and PW3 (Mohammed), were detailed, graphic and consistent, adding that the contradictions were immaterial and urged the Supreme Court to affirm the death penalty.“DW1 (al-Mustapha) provided the logistics for killing the deceased in Lagos. PW3 (Mohammed) was assigned as driver to PW2 (Jabila) because of his knowledge of Lagos and PW3 gave graphic evidence of how he drove PW2 to the scene of the crime and how PW2 shot the deceased severally.“PW2 admitted meeting DW2 (Shofolahan) to the killing of the deceased and testified that DW2 took them to the deceased's house and provided information about the identification and movement of the deceased.“The statements of PW2, PW3 and even DW1 tendered and admitted by the trial court showed that these three witnesses indeed met and had common intention to commit a crime.“It was an undisputed fact that Alhaja Kudirat Abiola was shot and died on June 4, 1996. PW2 admitted he severally shot the deceased on June 4, 1996.“There was unchallenged evidence that DW1 gave his gun to PW2 for killing the deceased and the insistence of PW2 that he would be surprised that he used 5.6mm gun instead of 9mm to kill the deceased. There was circumstantial evidence establishing the fact that DW1 and DW2 participated and aided the elimination of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola,” Ipaye stated.

Babankowa should go to HELL!

We Yorubas stand solidly behind Lagos and its appeal to Supreme Court to review the judgement of appeals court.

Hausas should stand behind their al Mustapha, we stand behind Lagos and Kudirat. If APC fail so what? Who is desperate for Presidency, i dont see any Yoruba tripping over himself to become Nigerian President.

Hausa should be the ones to watch out and not give us reason to dismantle the relationship and alliance across our borders. We are not in need of anything up North.

Al Mustapha must be brought to justice. Let Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, determine his guilt or innocence.

In the days of Awo three Yorubas would already be dead by now.

1. Sofolahan's body should already be floating in the lagoon.

2. The judge that set him and Mustapha free should already have her house and family burnt down.

3. Fasheun that escorted Mustapha to Kano should have had an accident from break failure and his car rolled down a cliff long ago.

What the hell is Babankowa talking about...I wish Mustapha would step foot in Yorubaland. OPC has bounty on the mudafvkr.

Take it easy and let do some analysis. Nigeria knows that yaruba people are coward who can only make noise behind a facelless forum. If that is the case then :-
1. The hausa fulani are ur slave master. Then they have the right to kill whenever they like.
2. Banbankowa wants to be relevant so he wants to do it on the back of their former slaves.
3. The north want power by power by fire and the only way they can achieve that is by aliniging them selves with their slave holding.
4. Can any body proves me otherwise.

Omexonomy: Take it easy and let do some analysis. Nigeria knows that yaruba people are coward who can only make noise behind a facelless forum. If that is the case then :-

Judgement of cowardice must be assessed based on real-time events.

a. How many threat ultimatums issued by Ibo leadership, both individually and collectively, over past three weeks has been actualized?

NONE!

b. How many times in past 12 months has MASSOB members been arrested, imprisoned and slaughtered in their own turf and on their home soil by FG security agents?

On more than 6 occassions! Thats not counting Ezu river event in the 6.

How have you stood up against this ethnic oppression and inequity?

COWARDLY!

c. How many years concurrently has Hausa targeted and massacred you in North?

Over two decades!

How have you responded to the insult and enslavement?

By respectfully labelling Hausa " INNOCENT"!

d. How many years concurrently has Fulani herders invaded, ra.ped, battered, looted and killed your people in the heartland of alaigbo?

Over a decade!

What is your response?

Your men boys hide until Fulani has departed and the field is clear then carry placard and wail and lament on roadside.

e. How many times have you threatened to burn down Lagos if Ladipo market is disturbed?

Over 5times in past 24 months!

What did you do when it was shut down in Feb this year?

Beg for mercy!

f. Did not Ladipo traders rant and cried they will never accept Babaloja as head and authority over them?

After the famous "Family Reunion" in Onitsha, what did Ladipo traders do?

They bowed and agreed the leadership of Babaloja.

g. Did not Orji Kalu say Lagos is a no man's land and he would sue the "Chief Reuniter"?

After tax collectors locked up his property for not paying "omo onile" fee have you heard any other Ibo question the ownership of Lagos?

NOPE!

h. Boko haram bombed two bus loads of ndigbo with no survivors living to narrate the ordeal, Kwankwaso paid compensation to injured Hausas that sustained burn and shrapnel wounds. Your Eze visited Kwankwaso and dedicated Igbo loyalty and support.

Bokoharam bombed Enugu/Igbo road and roasted your brothers. Police Commissioner played down the number of casualties. Your Ohanaeze leader cried foul and disputed the number. He has been threatened with arrest and gone into hiding.

How are your people responding?

Your brothers have given up resisting. They join the annual parade of Jihadis, they carry the flag of Usman dan Fodio proudly, each dressed in the traditional igbo red knit cap to register the igbo support.

The i to z series is ready for publication. Let me know when you are ready to receive it.

You son of Hausa and Yoruba a.s.s lickers!

Hausa is slave to Fulani. Fulani is cautious about enraging Yoruba and loosing its gains in Nigeria. grin

1. On the other hand, Hausa is master over Ibo. However much Hausa kill Ibo, whether in Hausaland or Iboland, he is always respected as the INNOCENT party.

Babankowa is a messenger. Fulani sent him to test the water and gauge Yoruba temperament because our reaction is unpredictable.

2. If this had been an issue over Ibo temperament Fulani would have come out boldly and send attacks to the Ibo governor appealing Mustapha release. In addition, for daring to appeal the ruling thousands of Ibo in North would already be soaked in their own blood.

The North is hungry for power and they realize the true owners of political power in Nigeria is Yoruba. North understands khaki power but when it comes to alagbada power, Yoruba is the kingmaker. Thats why Buhari came calling. Three attempts, zero success! The Fulaniman thought his khaki power can win politics, he has come to his senses and ackonwledged he needs the kingmakers to bless him.

The North said they were cheated out of their 8yrs so they want Gej out after 4yrs. They will stay 8yrs. Meanwhile other minorities will be trooping to Obj and Asiwaju to be blessed and succeed North. At same time, Ijaw will be claiming Gej did not complete 8yrs and they want to come back.

3. So really, when is it going to be Ibo's turn? When Ibo realize that Yoruba is the political kingmaker in Nigeria and start paying homage to Obj, Asiwaju, Aregbesola, Fashola, Fani Kayode, ati bebe lo.

Im waiting in the wings, let me know when to release points 4 to 50.

Bloody political slave!

Personally, I am not yoruba but a law abiding citizen of Nigeria. I want to see the law get to the final conclusion in this matter, irrespective of who is involved.

I consider bankowal statement as a threat to the south west.

I hope this case will not be like the one fashola filled against gov jang which he later withdrew.

For once in Nigeria let us have real justice, APC or no APC, BOKO Haram or no boko haram, violence or no violence.

A woman, a mother was shot dead in cold blood and you telling us APC registration. What is APC?

Your are correct on the need for justice.

Like i said, babankowa is a stress test for the Yoruba temperament because they are unsure how to tread on the issue of Mustapha. Their elites have kept quiet. Who has ever heard of babankowa speaking for the north?

OPC already has declared him a non entity in Yorubaland. If they truly want to stress our response they should send him to us on a similar visit like he took to markurdi.

Send him to come and pay thank you visit to Fasheun.

Yurubas are cowards..they won't dare do a thing or else they will be killed and lodged in jails like Abacha did.

They are still northern subjects after they were annexed by the northern expansionists years ago..

That visit was his first stop after release and before word got on ground that he was freed. He was then rushed out of SW fast before words circulated. Now that everyone knows he dare not to return, unless under cover of darkness or some camouflage.

Al Mustapha's release is a welcome development. Its not his fault the prosecution bungled & fumbled their case against him for almost 15 yrs.
