President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed a new State Chief of Protocol (SCOP) and Presidential Liaison Officer (PLO).

The decision confirms Frontiersnews earlier report on the appointment of the two key aides to the president

Those appointed for the two key positions are Mr. Jamilu Waziri, as SCOP and Mr. Ben Okoyen who is the new PLO also doubles as the special adviser to the president on protocol matters.

Mr. Waziri is seen as one the president's strategic aides and central figure in reaching out to key elements in the Northern politics.

A seasoned diplomat, Mr. Waziri was in 2012 appointed by Mr. Jonathan as an ambassador insitu.

Mr. Okoyen, a Washington trained protocol consultant on air ticketing is President Goodluck Jonathan's longest serving personal aide.

The Bayelsa born Oxford graduate had his first degree from University of Port Harcourt.

Mr. Okoyen began his working career with Bayelsa State Government House with Mr. Jonathan as then Deputy Governor.

He moved to Aso Rock as the PLO to Mr. Jonathan in 2007 when emerged the vice president of the country.
