After a thorough analysis of the present impasse between Ameachi and his co-politicians, I have discovered that his travails are neither from Okrika Waterfront, nor from Wike, nor from Patience Jonathan, nor his election as the chairman of the NGF.
Ostensibly, his travail is not unconnected with his 2015 political aspirations. Politicians have permanent interest but no permanent enemies.
Gov. Ameachi must recognise the fact that Pres. Jonathan's interest for re-election come 2015 is nothing but REAL, and that whoever stands as an obstacle wud never be taken for granted, be it from the north, let alone from the south.
Ameachi must not forget that Jonathan is bigger than him politically and as such can easily be punished(not only suspension from PDP).
He(Ameachi) should learn from history (Atiku & Obasanjo) that early exhibition of aspirations for the presidency(vice) is destructive.
Therefore, Gov. Ameachi should set up a panel of reconciliation with Mr President for peace to reign.
On the other hand, Mr President should exercise restraint, he should concentrate on 'EMPLOYMENT AND POWER GENERATION IN NIGERIA' not battling a common clash of political interest.
MR PRESIDENT, TEMPER JUSTICE WITH MERCY, AMEACHI IS STILL UR BROTHER.
ALLAH is Supreme!

Meanwhile, Amechi's role in the chaos leaves room for more questions than answers.

In my opinion, I will suggest Amechi resign and save himself from further embarrassment and misdeeds.

Liveair: For your info, eye witnesses saw when the first drama started at 8.15am as the house was about to start sitting when Hon. Bipi came into the Chamber and attacked Hon. Lloyd unprovoked, using the camera Tripod stand to whip him severely. This was caught on the CCTV cameras.
Speaker, Hon. Amachree tried to intervene but saw as thugs supporting Hon. Bipi arrive at the gallery to aid the attacking Hon. Bipi. Hon. Lloyd 'had to escape.
Gov. Amaechi was informed of the chaos at the Assembly and so he decided to go there himself to calm things (afterall he is still the Chief Security Officer of the state).
Gov. Amaechi arrived with his security details after calling the Commissioner of Police to inform him of the Chaos. The CP confirmed this on Radio that Amaechi called him. On siting Amaechi, Hon. Bipi asked his supporters to shoot him (Gov. Amaechi).
On hearing this, Amaechi walked to him and asked, "shoot me?". Amaechi then asked his security to arrest him but the Hon. Bipi's security resisted it.
Meanwhile, earlier, when the Hon. Bipi and his people had driven the other members away, they held a quick session (about 9.50am) using a new mace to impeach the speaker Hon. Amachree and chose Hon. Bipi as new speaker.
When Hon. Lloyd saw a team of security support, he returned to the house Chamber and grabbed the new mace, using it to hit Hon. Ihunwo severely, retaliate the beating he had earlier received from the other faction members. Now, this was the video seen by many.
Eventually, the house security was restored and a sitting was made by about 22 members, where Deputy Gov. Ikuru came and submited a budget adjustment. At this time, Hon Bipi, tried desperately to return to the chamber with his thugs but was denied by Security at the entrance, even the Deputy Gov. attempted but failed to calm him. This was the other video where the Deputy Gov. was embracing Hon. Bipi to calm him. Hons. Lloyd and Ihunwo were taken to hospital from were Lloyd gave the interview.
The genesis of the crisis is the rift between Wike and Amaechi, which was worsened by the position of the first Lady on the Okrika Waterfront demolition.
Even a blind man knows Amaechi has greatly developed the state and employed lots of Rivers youth, the problem is the extreemly greedy elders of some areas if the state who feel Rivers state money must be shared. They prefer to eat the future of their children today. That's why all the 5 anti Amaechi law makers are from same Senatorial district.
Some have mentioned the Gov. as being arrogant but I keep asking what is the arrogance? That he said the Watersides MUST be demolished for school buildings?
That he destroyed the fences of houses in GRA to restore the master plans?
People cant even substantiate his sins to us.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to remove Amaechi so all parties must let peace reign now.

This post is too biased. U spoilt your report immediately you added that "even a blind man knows Amaechi......"

@ OP, I'm not from rivers state and not one of those who will take sides and keep going back and forth. However, I may agree with your post but I also saw a police office beating the Hon member in black suit "Hon. Ihunwo " That incident raises a lot of questions. Any one who is biased will not respond to that appropriately.

Now This is Rivers State we are talking about and Amaechi is the Governor. Honestly every body saw this coming. Do you think Amaechi has handled this things well or he has let things degenerate to this level so as to prove a point, gain sympathy or support from disgruntled politicians? I personally think that Amaechi would have managed things better but he deliberately wants to do it this way to see what will happen. "I mean amaechi himself can solve this problem but He just don't want to do it" Sentiments aside, Amaechi can call every body together today to a round table and this will be resolved. Honestly Amechi is not being wise irrespective of the support and sympathy he gets. There was a time in my state that the governor was hated and removed by the court(he had to go for a rerun) . People who hated him were all over; speaking as they like and heating up the polity. In fact, a popular elder in the state was openly against the governor and some folks were supporting the Elder. what did the governor do? he humbled himself never tried to show power with anyone. He met with the president with elders from all the senatorial district at Abuja and the issues were resolved. That is a wise leader.

Honestly, I will put the blame on Amaechi, because even at this point he can calm things down and resolve things But he will not do so because he has a point to prove. that makes him foolish. Amaechi is destroying his state; that will exist after him. This whole thing is political. He should stop his juvenile approach to issues and show his dexterity and sagacity as a leader. I like the fact that the entire public are now aware (with proof) that our leaders are riffraffs. I pray the masses watch them they kill themselves.

Boy, that word is spelled "Amateur". I know how hard it is to spell considering that you're maturely disadvantaged. You will improve if you keep up, and also learn some respect.

Meanwhile, Your matured ass needs to come to terms with the fact that the former speaker, Hon. Otelemaba Amachree was duly impeached. Whether the impeachment was constitutional or not is a case for the court to determine.

Legally, he stands impeached.

You people turn logic on its head, just to achieve your sinister aims. There is no case or argument of who the speaker is, unless you people want to use force to prevent the authentic speaker from performing. There is no way 5 lawmakers can impact a speaker of a 32 man house and impose another speaker. Even if you present the lame argument that a quorum of 11 legislators sat during the impeachment proceedings and then turn the constitution on its head by stating that you only need two-third of 11, the 5 will still fall short of the requirements.
So the whole two weeks Patience Jonathan spent in Rivers state strategising the impeachment of Amaechi came to nothing. The strategy was as dumb as it is unrealistic. It simply involves the pro-jonathan 5 sitting under police protection with a fake mace, impeach the speaker and immediately declaring Amaechi impeached. Then Mbu would move in to arrest amaechi. He and his supporters would then be told to seek redress in court while the 5 would continue as Rivers State assembly. And you know the court would be slowed by adjournments, legal gymnastics and bribery. That was how OBJ did it in Oyo, Ekiti and Bayelsa, but OBJ had more than 5 legislators on his side in each case.

Sorry your plan has failed, Amaechi remains governor and the speaker remains speaker.

Now the Killer party wouldn't mind destroying their best because he has some issues with an illiterate wife of a very dull president.

joker5180: am surprise u said u wunt take side, what r d issues that ought to hv bn addressed? what about d drama during NGF election, is it the same arrogance nd failure to resolve issues?

I have read a lot contributions on this issues concerning Ameachi, GEJ and Wike and NGF and have decided to point out some issues that we all have closed our eyes to.

1. NGF is an issue for us to ponder so much about, it is a Voluntary organization as far as i know, that is not backed by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and as such any Governor who has forgtten the oath of office he took to protect and secure the lives and properties of its citizens, uphold the constitution, and to serve the public should be impeached for lack of Focus(lol)spending the allocation of Rivers people, this goes for all state governors, on baseless issues at the NGF. How has it benefited anyone.Ameachi should at this moment retrace his steps and focus on why he was elected Governor, he is the Governor of Rivers state and Not NGF, and henceforth he should stop wasting the state fund on NGF which is just a Jamboree for Governors with focus.

2. The issue between Ameachi and Wike has to do with who will represent their senatorial district at the senate, because i know most of you guys running your mouth do not know that both of them are aspiring to run for senate by 2015, Ameachi does not intend to be the Running mate to Lamido, all that is just a distraction. So all this is the problem between both former friends, which can be resolved.

3. Ameachi calling for the removal of Mbu is baseless because if what he said about him is right, the forces that be can also replace Mbu with someone that will do worse than Mbu, so if he Ameachi has the state at heart he should start sorting himself out rather compound issues for himself.

4. GEJ, as the CinC should at this time use his good office and save the Office of the President all this embarrassment, and call all parties together, for the good of this country, because as it now we are turning into a laughing stock.

At this moment all parties should look out for a way to address this issues and lets move on their are a lot of things to be done. I will reserve other points for some other time.

FINALLY, THE TRUTH AND I THANK GOD FOR IT.

I have families in Rivers State and they have confirmed this live and direct eye witness account.

Political gangsterism is now mob rule democracy of the "ogas at the top", but as long as God is still God in heaven, on earth and the entire universe, justice will always win in the end no matter how long it may be delayed or thwarted by those possessed by demons and the lunatic fringe in Nigeria and abroad.

The Nigerian political arena is one huge and annoying joke.so, instead of buying a nigerian or american movie to watch, just 'watch' the Nigerian political scene. sadly, i believe this generation wont fare any better. judging from what i see on nairaland, if we ever get to be the ruling class,(if because, the present political class has no intention of letting us- the youth rule),we will fight just as much ,perharps even more. i fear for Nigeria.

joker5180: for u that may b the 'only way' out but for ppl like me it is not. in naija politics there instances whr dialogue doesnt work nd i think that apply to Amaechi's situatn. agreed he is d one to look for a way out for himself. the president who is the 'leader' of the party in my view shouldnt hv allowed things to get to this stage. so if Amaechi has problem i believe the leader of the party also has to take some responsibility
.U're clueless.
