convincingly.

The Court of Appeal in
Lagos has discharged and
acquitted Lateef
Sofolahan from the
murder of Kudirat Abiola.
The judgment overturns
that of the Lagos High
Court, which sentenced
him and Major Hamza Al-
Mustapha to death by
hanging.
Mr. Sofolahan was a
former personal assistant
to Mrs. Abiola.
The presiding judge relied
on the same grounds that
it acquitted Mr. Mustapha,
that the prosecution failed
to prove its case beyond
reasonable doubt.
