What’s going on here?: Hamza Al-mustapha visits Asari Dokubo (Photo)

This Hamza Al-Mustapha dance is becoming more difficult to comprehend.

The former Abacha hit-man who was recently freed by the Appeal Court has refused to be quiet since his release. First port of call after release – Prophet T. B Joshua, then Kano and the raucous welcome by the government and people of that state, then the calls and clamour for him to run for office in 2015, and the latest is a visit to one of the president’s strongest backers from the Niger Delta and threat specialist, Asari Dokubo.

Well, we do not have details of the meeting but let’s try something:

Considering that Al-Mustapha is Hausa and Dokubo usually sounds like he terribly hates Hausa/Fulanis then there must be something strong pulling them together. We can’t say they were comrades-in-arms because when Al-Mustapha was the all-in-all, Dokubo was an unknown; when Dokubo and his band of merry militants were holding Nigeria to ransom, Al-Mustapha was in jail.

So what is drawing these men together?

The next few months would say a lot, but already some are arguing that it’s about the politics of 2015 and the alleged strategy of Aso Rock to use Al-Mustapha to gain some inroads into the North.

Who knows?

Bayelsa Leaders Visit Al-Mustapha On How To Unite Nigeria

The leader of Oporoza house of Bayelsa, Timi Ogoriba, over the weekend led members of Oporoza house to a meeting with former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza al-Mustapha, in Abuja on how to further unite the country.

The leader of Oporoza house in his speech at the meeting recalled the working relationship between the north and the Izon ethnic group as he appealed to Major al-Mustapha to work towards ensuring that Nigeria becomes a better society.

He inferred that the military officer can influence the return of peace to Yobe state, which is one states currently under state of emergency due to Islamist insurgence in the north eastern part of the country.

Mr Ogoriba also affirmed that “if things become normal and peace raineth, emergency rule will be lifted.”

He added that Major Al-Mustapha has the capacity to ensure the return of peace to the state and region saying that “we know that our brother, our dear son (Al-Mustapha) has the clout and he has the wherewithal to ensure that things work on.”

How to ensure peace and the unity of Nigeria dominated discussions at the solidarity meeting between members of the Izon ethnic group and their friends from the north led by Major Hamza al-Mustapha.

Al-Mustapha, an indigene of Yobe state, was recently discharged and acquitted from a death sentence by the Appeal Court on charges of complicity in the murder of Kudirat Abiola, the wife of the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

Major al-Mustapha in his remark recounted his prison experience but pledged to unite the nation’s youths for a peaceful Nigeria, noting threats will not shake Nigeria.

“Rather we will shock-absorb threats and look at it calmly with courage, with confidence to be able to find solutions for results that are positive towards peace, particularly for the common good of our country” he stated.

Special guest at the meeting and leader of the Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), Frederick Faseun restated the need for all to work for the unity of Nigeria as he pledged to work towards a united and indivisible Nigeria.

According to Dr Faseun, the victory of Major Al-Mustapha at the Court of Appeal will further unite Nigeria.

He appealed to politicians to resolve their differences so that there can peace in the country, stating that for Nigeria to have survived a civil, “nothing can divide Nigeria now.”

Thank God Henry Okah wasn't tried and convicted in nigeria, who knows if he will be the man to complete the trinity of mustapha and dokubo.

Even if he visits Obasanjo or any strong man in Nigeria politics, the polity need not be heated over that.
After all, people believe GEJ is actually delivering the dividends of democracy and fulfilling his promises, if truly so then no one from that camp should be worried or wary of Almustapha's visit or monitoring movement of opposition. If actually and obviously enough GEJ is working, a good turn deserves another, Nigerians are not blind or dumb, he will be re-elected. Simple!..no need to start calculating politics of numbers.

Leave opposition, work and convince Nigerians, the democratic way.

The same Al-Mustafa that colluded with his boss, Abacha to kill Ken Saro Wiwa is now a saint to people of Southsouth. The desperation of Jonathan shows he is willing to sacrifice even his family member to get his wish. Jonathan will be losing a lot of votes from those voters in Southwest who have been willing to vote for him. This move will drive the Christians from South-west away from Jonathan.

Buhari is a very close pal of Al-Mustafa and Abacha. If you all forget, Buhari was PTF Chairman under Abacha. If Jonathan thinks Al-Mustafa will split the Northern votes, he should be prepared for rude awakening in the North.

Ain't nothing fishy. I always predicted that Jonathan's VP for 2015 is Yerima while Al Mustapha is the alternative VP. So don't be surprised if he emerges Jonathan's running mate.

You APC guys use Amechi to destabilize GEJ, GEJ uses Mustafa to destabilize Buhari/Tinubu/Fasola. Any problem there?

Meanwhile TB Joshua and the OPC head who worked to release Mustafa are Yorubas. The judge too is Yoruba.

He is on a thank you tour, and also to exchange notes. Both have similar skills and expertise, a one time head of the deadly Strike Force and the other, leader of a militant group. It is obvious that he has been released to orchestrate something, and it is only a matter of time for such purpose to manifest as Bros Joe is determined and clandestinely manifesting his schemes to remain in power. grin

Dude, was Teslim Folarin not 'liberated' from a murder charge to then be flown, courtesy of the Presidency, to deliver delegates vote in Abuja that GEJ needed to defeat Atiku for 2011?

I think many underestimate what GEJ is capable of and how immorally self-serving he really is. Anyway, the opposition should focus on winning Nigerians over and leave GEJ to his myopically desperate antics that will 100% be his undoing.

Buhari has nothing to do with Boko Haram. As a matter of fact, Jonathan is going to align with Boko Haram very soon to get his way in the North. The same Boko Haram that killed many Nigerians. Al-Mustafa and his boss, Abacha killed Ken Saro Wiwa. He is now a saint to many of you. You have also forgotten that Buhari and Al-Mustafa know each other very well during Abacha regime. Buhari is 30 times more popular in the North than Al-Mustafa. Buhari is the most popular politician in the North today.

Why are you so worked-up over this issue? Since when did asari dokubo's comments become relevant? There's obviously no permanent friend/enemy in politics but permanent interest. Moreover, its obvious GEJ has learn a thing or two from the opposition which includes colliding with folks of questionable characters for the sake of achieving his interest.

Am of the opinion that you afford yourself some good rest and not getting restless over issues as irrelevant as this. Al-mustapha may have also met asari for personal reasons. Mind you, he's now a free man and he's entitled to freedom of movement.
