My Fatherland - 13th July, 2013

My country has become a cornucopia of social injustice
My fatherland is rich but its inhabitants are poor, having no seeds
Barren men walk on fruitful fields
Dignity and common sense is sacrificed on the altar of pride and
selfishness
Discretion is exchanged for madness
.

Our fathers have sold us for gain
They gather the seeds from unripe pods
Profiting by shedding our blood
Their conscience drowned in the pool of self-centredness
Creating nothing less than a big mess
.
.
They have sold everything
Everything!!! No commodity is spared
The rightful owners are not scared
They are oblivious of the transaction
Even when the owners are aware they do not tread with caution
.
.
The mourners have gone out into the streets
Their tears, not enough to cleanse the land
Even when the recruit experts from other bands
"Let us weep", they plead
But no one is ready to heed

Divinely favoured by God
Praised abundantly by all
En-graced by eternity
Protected by providence
Precious she is to the jewelers
Her possessor is bursting with pride
Happy are those that drink from her fountain
They who undoubtedly are from her loins
She is blessed
She is far above Rubies

Her worth is not from without
Her beauty is deep seated within her spirit
She is not moved by profiting
Neither is she swayed by rewards
Her diligence is pure
She is successful and prosperous
She also is generous
She is aware, fully aware of her worth
She is humble
She is far above Rubies
.

Destiny did not forge her so
Nor fate fashion her like this from the beginning
At the feet of her role models she learnt
Listening and cultivating
Now, she is happy she learnt
Tutored by the very bests
She is very rare
She is a woman of the 31 status
She is far above Rubies
.

She is focused
She is driven by purpose
Her God is God
She reveres, respects and protects her husband
He trusts in her with his very own life
Everything he has, he has entrusted her with
He does not suffer lack
Her children are proud to be hers
She is virtuous
She is far above Rubies

Perspiration trickling down my side
Hours upon hours, working with my hide
Rest, I postpone
Tiredness, I dethrone
Work with diligence, I must
Succeed I will, if only in Him, I trust.

Like David, I gazed upon others
Those of whom hardwork never bothers
Evidence of their inclination, obvious
Proof of my philosophies, inconspicuous
Encouragement which I sorely desire, ever absent
Reason to quit, ever present.

Like the patriach, i conclude
On slippery surface, their feet protrude
Free falling towards hell
Never knowing how they fell
Thinking it's sweet warm
Not realising it's hell's bid come.

The Manual of Life declare
Without equivocation, it makes clear
Do you see a man diligent in his ways
Before kings, he stands and says,
"Wisdom is my counterpart,
So is Integrity right from the very start."

Understanding I now have
Because in His sanctuary, I serve.
The destination is not success
Because its earthly prototype is bogus.
I know I am not wrong
Because I want, in Him, to finish strong.

Fright spreading like wild fire
As our enemies diligently conspire
Valiant and gallant comrades retire
Only them with courage aspire
To fight till the end, even amidst brier.

In the middle of the fight
All that dominate our sight
Is the crown, shining so bright
Sowing all our might
We become to our enemies a
blight.
.
.
Though all may be silent around
But pains in our heads
undoubtedly pound
Reasons to forge on, we may not have found
By our pledge, we are unitedly bound
Our insides, by our commission, wound
.

The chips are certainly down
We now seem to our enemies, the expert clown
Performing painful tricks without even a frown
Fear, we ultimately drown
To finally gain our solely desired crown.

We now possess peace on all side
We raise our shoulders high, with pride
Our enemies before us, with shame, they hide
Those who hitherto because of our plight had cried
Now know the reason why we have pressed on and tried.
