“Shame on you!!!!!!, I mean all of you from Oron nation serving in one capacity or the other in the Governor Akpabio administration for failing to draw his attention to the deplorable condition of roads in Oron”.

The above is not only an admonition and indictment but an exclamation of grief by the entire people of Oro for the neglect and marginalization you have contributed to wrought on Oro. One is not only appalled but dismayed by the state of roads in Oron urban otherwise known as Akanni obio. Both the gods (ekpu Oro) and the living are angry at the state of roads in Oron town. It has never been that bad. The state of urban roads in Oron is a far departure from what one finds in other major towns of comparative status in Akwa Ibom state.

It is unfortunate that Oro has been excluded from taking commensurate benefit from the extensive road construction works which serves as a mantra and the hallmark of the Governor Akpabio administration. While the government boast of having awarded contracts for the construction of thirty-four (34) urban roads in Oron only seven (7) of such road contracts have been fully executed. Urban roads in Oron is classified as lots 1-5 by government under the state urban renewal and road construction scheme in which road segments totaling 330 klm and worth over 80 billion Naira was awarded to both foreign and local contractors in 2007.
Information in the public domain revealed that contract for re-construction of urban roads in Oron was initially awarded to Governor Akpabio’s kindred who used the company, EMCON Nig. Limited to secure the contract. It is alleged that several millions of naira paid as mobilization to EMCON was mismanaged and diverted into private pockets. EMCON was never known to be a construction company having equipments with any reputation. Following the failure of EMCON to perform and complaints by the community, the contractor was said to have drafted a Lebanese company named ENECO Nig. Limited based in Port Harcourt to complete the project. It is reported that ENECO arising from the failure of the contractor to meet his financial obligation also abandoned the project. read more @

And yet, some people would come here, screaming that Akpabio is working. I'm an Akwa Ibom indigene, and I can authoritatively tell you that most of what you hear in the media about Akpabio working in every nook and cranny of the state are just media hype. All the developmental projects he is praised for,are mainly situated in the state capital,Uyo. Is that where majority of the masses is? How can they experience the dividend of democracy that they are hyping Gov.Akpabio about?

The fact that some roads are not tarred does not mean akpabio is not working. If you ask me i will tell you Akpabio is the best Governor Akwa ibom has ever had interms of infrastructure development in the state and he has built more roads than any governor in nigeria today fact.
but because you are good at something does not mean that you dont have room for improvment. there are yet many roads in Akwa Ibom that needs attention and this is one of them.

You are the deluded one.
You can compare him to other Niger delta governors.
For what he is getting and a civil service that is less than the number of street cleaners in alimosho local government , he has done diddy squat..........nothing.
Even in term of road construction, we all know he comes very far behind "THE ONE"
Despite the very low population.

i agree with this.akwa-ibom receives the highest from the federal government.or example,in november 2012,statutory allocation for lagos state was 4,260,251,496.42 while for akwa-ibom was 15,641,603,217.95.

akpabio should be doing much more than is been hyped and same for other niger delta states.

statutory allocation in the same month for niger delta states(excluding local government allocation)

BAYELSA-11,451,303,911.95

DELTA-13,596,439,957.20

RIVERS-13,645,139,974.

EDO-3,775,213,377.92

while lagos received

lagos-4,260,251,496.42

OSUN-2,766,188,543.38

we should be seeing enormous projects from the niger delta states based on the huge revenues they receive from the federal government

And from your arm chair in Lagos you were able to come up with this brilliant fact! Clap for yourself.

I wish we even have this kind of untarred road at Alimosho or betterstill, Ejigbo.
Re: Pictures of Abandoned Road Project In Akwa Ibom by Scarpon(m): 1:47pm On Jul 19, 2013
that road is better than some roads in lagos example: ijegun road

The fact that the roads are either under construction or abandoned means the governor is doing something but contractors fault.
