Folks, just thinking about it. For those who use the 'prophet' as their justification, how about we make it ok for a 50+ woman to marry a toddler. Or is that against the prophet's wishes? And for those who use a monumentally decayed culture as a reason, I ask - won't it be ok and equally generous to marry off your little male children to 50, 70, 80 year old women and then wait for the boys to reach puberty so they can consumate the marriage? I mean whats wrong with that?

If you support a senile old male fool's lust and hunger to marry a little baby girl why not support same for women, or are we more equal than women? Any man that marries a little girl is a very weak man with a pathological obsession for control. Marry your equal and stop hiding under outdated and ungodly religious/cultural practices.

I just stopped in to point out that 99.9% of marriages to underaged girls are Traditional marriages which are not controlled by the courts. These marriages will continue with or without the constitutional amendment which is currently causing yawa both online and offline among primarily, ignorant diasporans.

Until polygamy and underaged marriages are outlawed within the traditional institutions, theses practices will continue unabated in Nigeria.

Instead of calling for the recall of those senators, you should be calling for them to introduce bills which will outlaw the said traditional practices. Chances are, you will not be successful in that venture. Your outrage is misplaced.

This issue is not a religious issue but that of customs and tradition. Don't let people confuse you with a religious bigot.

This is not about religion. It is not about Islam. Christianity does not condemn pedophilia either, No where in the bible does it say it is a sin to marry an underage child but when you look at the impact of this act on the life of the child, common sense will tell you that it is wrong. These child have all sorts of medical complications from having sex and giving birth before the body is fully developed. Sometimes people have to use the brain that God gave them to think. Maybe Mohammed did not know that medical and psychological impact of this on children but now that we have the statistics and medical studies, now that the information is out there, act accordingly. I am sure the Quran preaches that you should love one another. Ask yourself, does endangering the life of a child show love?
