If The Almighty hadn’t
remembered Noah he and his
co-travellers would’ve
languished in the ark, so he
caused a wind to pass over
the earth and the waters
assuaged.

But it took quite a while before
the waters were eventually
dried off. Noah had to do
some ‘scientific’ probes with a
raven and some doves (like
we’ve done with a dog,
monkey and unmanned crafts
into space) before he was
finally instructed to leave the
ark.

Again, the animals, wild and
tamed left the ark without
much (or any) incidence
recorded, thereafter Noah
made an Altar and offered
upon it some of the ‘clean’
beasts he had brought with
him. It would then appear that
taking them in ‘sevens’ over
and above the others didn’t
turn out to be much of an
advantage at the end of the
day.

The Almighty was pleased with
his offerings (unlike Cains’)
and decreed that He ‘will not
again curse the ground
anymore for man’s sake; for
the imagination of man’s heart
is evil from his youth; neither
will I again smite any more
everything living, as I have
done. While the earth
remaineth, seedtime and
harvest, and cold and heat,
and summer and winter, and
day and night shall not cease’.

It would appear that The
Creator knew that man could
only get worse in expressing
the above, or else he’d have
had to set ‘destruction’ with
the capability of tonnes of
nukes in the earth’s core to
deal with the cacophony that
todays’ human behaviour
represents compared to the
relative ‘quiet’ present before
that ‘Great Deluge’.

The Almighty went further to
bless Noah and his sons,
saying to them ‘Be fruitful and
multiply, and replenish the
earth’, a line which today
makes it look like childless
couples in a marriage aren’t
blessed, and may even be
thought of in some quarters as
actually cursed with verses
such as ‘there shall be no
barren in the land’, lending
cause to such beliefs.

It is no wonder that childless
couples are under a lot of
pressure especially in very
religious areas of the world, as
they and people around them
begin to consider their
predicament more spiritual
than physical, leading to
situations where a lot of
married couples decline to
pursue medical help in
resolving their issue of
childlessness.

Now, I haven’t declared that
there isn’t a spiritual
dimension to childlessness,
nor have I rejected the notion
of a spiritual solution to
barreness, what I am saying is
that in so doing the physical
shouldn’t also be overlooked,
as there are certain reasons
why conception may become
harduous and there are many
remedies available (though
sometimes not necessarily
affordable especially in
developing countries) that can
be procured besides stealing
babies, surrogacy and
adoption, to turn the
unfortunate situation around
medically, as long as that
condition is within the scope
of remediation.

The Chinese and Rastafarians
will definitely love the part
where The Creator says ‘Every
moving thing that liveth shall
be meat for you; even as the
green herb have I given you all
things’. The Chinese with their
penchant for being non-
discriminatory in the type of
animals that make it to their
kitchen; even the poisonous
ones are ‘de-poisoned’ and
then consumed.

The Rastafarians on the other
hand have limited the wide
range of what constitutes
‘Herb’ to mean only ‘Marijuana’
or ‘Cannabis’ and quote
profusely from this scripture to
defend their addiction.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses claim
that the next verse, ‘But flesh
with the life thereof, which is
the blood thereof, shall ye not
eat’, is the basis for their
refusal to accept blood
transfusion even though I
cannot not see how being
transfused with blood could
amount to EATING blood!
Unfortunately, many lives have
been lost due to the
upholding of this belief
amongst the members of this
sect. Definitely, no one can
force an adult to procure any
particular medical intervention
if he/she does not so desire,
but I do not think that children
who’s ability to make such
decisions are diminished
should have to live or risk their
lives in abiding by the way their
parents have chosen for them
without the intervention of the
state.

The Jehovah’s Witness lobby
has done quite a lot in terms
of raising awareness for the
use of substitutes but are
those convenient for all intents
and purposes?

The Almighty then goes on
further to state that, ‘…I will
establish my covenant with
you; neither shall all flesh be
cut off any more by the waters
of a flood; neither shall there
any more be a flood to
destroy the earth’, and that
leaves me wondering about
that ’2012′ movie.

Yeah, the
flooding and Tsunami
followed a major climato-
geological event in that movie,
and in real life those days
passed quietly without as
much as rain (from where I
stood though) making much
of that Mayan prophesy (like
many others before it) a farce!

According to the Bible, the
‘Rainbow’ is the seal to the
effect that the world will not
be destroyed by reason of a
great flood. The scientists
explain that phenomena
differently and erm…I do not
intend to go into that now.

So, the family of Noah land
safe and sound and one of the
most controversial stories is
about to be unveiled.
