it uses a micro-sim.I'll advice you take your sim to any phone dealer be cut into a micro-shape,there's a particular stainless steele stapler that u can use,I'll advise u take it down to them.
the subscription depends on your network of choice.also it depends on what you can afford and for how long.just contact your service provider they'll help u with their data plan package.

One thing,please try not visiting any indecency site on safari(the local browser) for the first 24 hours when its internet enabled.those sites expose your ipad to crash easily cause it could generate a lot of virus unaware.
