KDF has been doing some community outreach programs in various parts of Somalia.

i.e Restoring abandoned water supply plants, renovating and supplying medicals to clinics and hospitals, distributing water to locals, field medical camps, donating food stuffs.. etc

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating in Somalia under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) last week repaired a water pump supplying water to Tabda residents.
The pump, which was broken and had been abandoned for a long time, had left area residents without reliable water supply.
Repair of the pump has restored water supply to the residents and cushioned them against the ongoing drought effects currently being experienced in the area.
KDF troops also donated foodstuff including rice, flour, milk, beans and clean drinking water to lessen the effects of food and fresh water scarcity in the area.
The Officer Commanding Tabda, Major Gichubi Waweru affirmed KDF’s commitment to improve the livelihood of locals in the area as they continue to degrade the Al Shabaab terrorists.
Tabda Officer Commanding Station, Mohamed Mahat Harun thanked KDF for the kind gesture and pledged continued support to the troops in fighting Al Shabaab.

General Binkov`s take on the war in Ukraine.. grin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vqq6zYYpvUM?t=374

What do you think about his analysis, I'll say mine after you.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu made an official statement on the progress of the special operation in Ukraine.

The main thing:

▪️The main tasks of the first stage of the special military operation in Ukraine have been completed.

▪️The Ukrainian army suffered significant damage, which allows us to focus our efforts on achieving the main goal - the liberation of Donbass.

▪️Over the past 2 weeks, about 600 mercenaries have been destroyed in Ukraine, more than 500 have left the country.

▪️Moscow is monitoring the statements of the leaders of the NATO countries on the supply of aircraft and air defense systems to Ukraine, and if these plans are implemented, they will respond adequately.

If 10 years ago someone could have said Nigeria would be building such ships in less than a decade, no one could have believed them.

It's a job well done to the shipbuilding industry in Nigeria.

Objectivity........ Really?

The US & NATO attacked Iraq with 309,000 troops in an almost non-contested environment, while you think 130,000 Russian soldiers are supposed to take over all of Ukraine.
Now you've revealed your bias. Before I saw this statement I was wondering how someone as smart as you will fall to cheap Russian propaganda.

When Putin said there were no plans to invade Ukraine less than a week before the invasion while Biden said he was sure there would be an invasion very soon. I'm sure you believed Putin not Biden.

Western intelligence were right on the date and time of the commencement of the invasion. It was shifted by two days after it was revealed but still happened at the predicted time.

America predicted that the main objective was to capture kiev and split the state. What happened after that, Russia tried to cut off kiev by attacking from belarus and trying to sieze Hostomel airport so they can insert troops from the southern side and capture kiev quickly.

When you want to seize a capital city, one of the main objectives is to capture the main airport so that you can create an airbridge and insert troops. America did the same thing in Baghdad on the first day of the invasion.

Russia had no business attacking from Belarus or seizing Hostomel airport if the capture of Kiev wasn't the plan.

Putin tried to move via a convoy, but logistical problems and effective defense coordination prevents a takeover of Kiev to this day.

As attacking Kiev wasn't going to plan. Ukraine moved more troops to the east.

Russia military faces stalls in Ukraine for two reasons. Ukraine's infantry is better coordinated. Russia does not have the air superiority to conduct close air support operations because of high tech short range missiles possessed by Ukraine. This gives Ukraine a chance to fly anti tank drones and engage the Russian infantry on ground.

Putin is trying to scale down because of how difficult things have become not that he didn't plan to take Kiev in the beginning.

Politically Russia will win because of one thing, the war is on Ukraine's turf and Ukraine will surely give in to Ukraine's demands. But militarily, Russia have failed in the invasion of Ukraine.

Coming to what you said about the non contested environment in iraq, do you know that the Iraqi Air Force was the largest and most modern airforce in the middle east before operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom?

Why Russian radios in Ukraine are getting spammed with heavy metal

Ukrainians are eavesdropping on the invaders and broadcasting on their frequencies

One of the many surprising failures of the Russian invasion force in Ukraine has been in radio communications. There have been stories of troops resorting to commercial walkie-talkies and Ukrainians intercepting their frequencies. This may not sound as serious as a lack of modern tanks or missiles, but it helps explain why Russian forces seem poorly co-ordinated, are falling victim to ambushes and have lost so many troops, reportedly including seven generals. What is going wrong with Russian radios?

Modern military-grade radios encrypt signals and change the frequency on which they operate many times a second, making their transmissions impossible to intercept. But many Russian forces are communicating on unencrypted high-frequency (HF) channels that allow anyone with a ham radio to eavesdrop. The Russian army does have some modern tech. It started receiving Azart radios, which have built-in encryption and can operate on much higher frequencies, in 2012. Thomas Withington, a military analyst specialising in electronic warfare, says that the Azart system seems adequate, if inferior to the equipment used by NATO forces. But there are not enough radios to go around. Russian news reports have talked enthusiastically about deliveries of a few hundred radios shipped to whole army groups comprising several thousand troops. By the most optimistic estimates only a fraction of the invasion force could have Azart radios.

Not regarding the comms

But the pic you attached needs to seen in the overall context

During Iraq war first 2-3 weeks approx 10000 civilian casualties were there , Iraqis were just another race non western , so everything was fair i guess or rather that's what the stats say

One reason russian ops look half hearted is bec they didn't go full force ie brute force everything on site ie depending on one's perspective one could say that from beginning Russians were looking to minimise civilian collateral damage, hence restraint to possible extent or attempt at such

In my opinion War has to be total/brutal war from the word go inorder to get a good show or figures on own side won't look good ever

( or exceptionally well conducted war effort will result in good figures on own side but than in modern warfare that's a tough ask in my opinion due to availability of assymetric capabilities )

Logistics and communication!!! imo the 2 most important aspects to any armed conflict.............And people always wondered why I brought up the communication capability of the SANDF! Which FYI has the first tactical communications system in the world that provides a complete inter-operability between all elements of the battlefield (air force, army, navy, etc.) without using gateways or protocol converters.

So good are our communication systems that a soldier from 4 Arty(I became friends with while I was still living in Potch) told me they can literally hit moving targets up to 50km with the G6 thanks to Link ZA and the Chaka C4 systems.

Reading the transcripts of the intercepted Russian comms, it's astounding how shambolic their campaign has been.
BTW, have you seen the latest comms gear Reutech is currently delivering to the SANDF?

Yes we are. The CSIR, various universities and some private enterprises are doing some excellent work.
Incidentally, our firm's venture capital division is mulling over funding a startup in the field.

To whet your appetite, here's the latest breakthrough from the 2nd ranked university in Africa (my alma mater is No.1; was 2 when I was there and overtook the current No.2; 6 SA universities in the Top 10 grin grin grin):

To add, with the LinkZA, one could use an airborne platform like the Rooivalk's radar to track air objects for the ground air defence systems.... or use ground radars to track objects for the Gripen while its radar is off (and the EW on) it would feel like you got hit by an F22. grin

-day 1: Rooivalk 1 fired, Rooivalk 2 guided and it hit; Rooivalk 1 fired, ground operator guided and it hit.

-day 2: Rooivalk 1 fired, Hawk LIFT guided and it hit.

Should've been end of demo, but somebody got carried away grin

-unscheduled day 3: Rooivalk fired and Gripen guided and missed by a few metres.

Typical Saffer chutzpah but shouldn't have been attempted at a public demo. Do the experimentation at AFB Overberg, fine tune it and bring the flawless product to an industry and defence attache-attended demo.

Would've been something if they'd successfully pulled it off though! cheesy

There were at least 2 Russian military build ups on the Ukraine border, it was obvious that the Russians will attack Ukraine, giving Ukraine reluctance to implement MINSK agreements. You don't need to be an intelligence officer to realize that.

Why would I believe Biden, the US has invaded nearly 43 countries in the last 50 years. Their last military invasions in Afghanistan and Iraq ended in spectacular military failures.

The primary reason for invading Ukraine is to ensure the historical borders of the 2 independent Donbass states were maintained. This has been the main bone of contention since the last 8 years.

The Russians seized Hostomel on the very first day of the war, and have defended it ever since, they could have easily created an air bridge if they wanted to, and inserted more troops, after all, the Russian military has a strength of 1 million troops. However they did not.

Granted, the Ukrainians have coordinated themselves better after the initial days of the attack, but the Russians are steadily advancing in the east, Mariupol has been all but taken. Nikoleav and Odessa would be next.

The TB2 drone has been very inactive in the war in Ukraine, it has mainly been used as a propaganda tool. Through-out the duration of this war, we've seen at most 5 publicly released TB2 Videos, the most impressive action by the TB2 been the attack of the Kherson air base.

The main threat Russian air assets face in Ukraine are from MANPADS.

With regards to Air superiority, Russian jets have been flying over 300 sorties a day in Ukraine. If that's not Air Superiority, I don't know what is.

Iraq had a large Air Force, the same way Libya had a large Air Force. Numbers on a piece of paper count for nothing when 90% of your fighter jets are unserviceable.

Iraq was also a large flat desert, perfect for air operations, Ukraine is not the same.

It was always possible, the problems we had in the past was a lack of government patronage. Now, government at different levels see the need to invest in local products, hence we continue to see present growth in the industry.

My prediction is that in 10 years, Nigeria would be building first class ships.

Russia deploys plenty of propaganda, it's their main tool. Russia adopted the USSR war strategyof:

- Lying about its military objectives
- Lying about the military objectives of the enemy
- Lying about the strength of the enemy
- Falsifying its losses and the losses of the enemy

How do we know this? There's a USSR version of the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale, according to their version; the SADF lost 100s of tanks, arty and aircraft while suffering 1000s of casualties WHEN in actuality there was never even that amount of armour and personnel deployed in the first place. ...and their version also states that the SADF's objective was to capture the whole of Angola and the FLAPLA with Soviet coordination managed to stop it against all odds.

So take whatever the Russian media says with a pinch of salt, in all honesty, their military campaign was a short-fall of their "advertised" military capability.

NB: I will not bother talking about their tactical shortcomings, they paraded them for the whole world to see.

All governments lie and falsify information.

While it is true that the Russians have shown many shortcomings in this war, it is still very true that the Ukrainians have been caught lying way more than the Russians, even going as far as using Video game footages as Russian losses.

The damage the Ukrainian military has suffered in this campaign has been immense, the country will lose the entire Donbass region in this war, surely.
