If it means Ribery wins it, so be it. I don't care as long as the winner is a Bayern player. It's the right thing.
I agree with you, Ribery will win but remember the award is not for the best team (Bayern) , it is for the best invidual player (Messi). Remember his scoring against all teams in La liga consecutively? Has scored in 21 straight league games.

Don't be surprise to see Ribery getting the fewest votes from the coaches and captains of each national team. He had a great year, no doubt but his continental pedigree is spotty compared to the other two contestants.

This is an award for best player and not Best club. Bayern performed very well last season but no single player was exceptional like a Messi or Ronaldo. They even put Ribery there to make up the number.

Check the British papers, that is where those guys play and win all their trophies, World Cup included.

Okay. I misinterpreted your question. Anyhoo, for the last 4 years, EPL based players haven't being stepping up both club and country. I think that's one of the major reasons EPL clubs are in some kind of continental rut.

But don't forget that they used to be a constant feature in the top 5 nominations until 2010.
