Hon. Charles Nwabueze aka Ojimma Egbuaku former caretaker Chairman Enugu south who later became the President of Amechi Uwani community development Union and VP 1 have grossly corrupted themselves to the tune of 32 million naira.
On the 7th of July 2002, the people of Amechi Uwani during their monthly meeting, unanimously elected Hon. Charles Nwabueze aka Ojimma Egbuaku as the town union president. His choice was informed by the good will enjoyed with generality of the people and his experience as the caretaker chairman of Enugu south local government during the administration of Chimaroke Nnamani. Not long after assuming office, he started exhibiting tendencies which are at variance with his position. Firstly he demanded for and collected some plots of land from some family unit, like Umunne-nshi, all in the name of resolving land dispute among them. (It is pertinent to note that a peaceful resolution of conflicts between and among families in Amehi Uwani falls under the purvey of his mandate). Not only did he collected the plots which he later sold to Owubuya from Uzouwani local government, he failed to settle the dispute for which the land was given to him.
Later, he encroached on U Maduka’s Property at Mary land extension. He told U Maduka that Amechi-uwani have agreed to leave his disputed land for him on the condition that he gave 10 plots of land to the community and also two plots to the former Senate President.
Furthermore, he approached Mr. Emeka Ujam, the commissioner for lands, Enugu State and told him to release 30 plots from Akani-Shinne. Later on, he urged the commissioner to hasten up and take over the land having in mind that Amechi-Uwani is not in peace. If not for the intervention of Progressive Youths of Amechi Uwani, who stopped the site clearing by the commissioner on 24 July, 2013, it would have been a different story by now.
Following the prevailing situation, we recommend that the Town Union President and VP 1 should step aside for gross misconduct, dereliction of duty, massive corruption and administrative ineptitude. In a time like this, Amechi-uwani community needs a leader with clear-cut objective. Chief Charles Nwabueze and VP 1 have failed us. According to the constitution of Amechi-uwani as amended in 2013. The president and VP 1 have grossly corrupted themselves to the tune of 32 million
naira. Since their inception of office.
If our community is on fire today, it is the hand work of Chief Charles Nwabeze and his cohort. The President of our town Union does not want to obey the board of trustee on the issues of accountability. He equally refuse to read the hand writing on the wall that our people does not want him anymore. Every advises proffered to him has since gone to the wind simply because such advises does not favour him. It is against this background that the progressive youths of Amechi Uwani community rose to the occasion by demanding their rights. We are not warring against our community rather we are against unruly behaviors of our President. We are equally asking that he should be made to cough out our money which he has siphoned. In a time like these, our people need good governance so that progress will follow. Some of the revenues that would have come to us has since gone into the private account of the president and his immediate vice,
Resolutions. Account should be rendered without delay, we demand that both the President and Vp1 should step aside, Amechi Uwani Youths election should be conducted without further delay, we demand for justices so that it will serve as a deterrent to future leaders of our community.
By progressive Youths of Amechi Uwani Community in Enugu South Local Government Area.
