This is a 2013 thread

So op questions have been answered

Wizkid and Davido are still relevant in the industry Five years after the post.

In fact, they now have olamide, Tekno, Pyhno and co for company

Not to mention the new wave of garage/street dance hall musicians. I e Small doctor, iDowest, Mr real
etc

The truth is that this type of music will continue to remain relevant as long as the Nigeria society is harsh

Delivar:
Those who are poorly educated also have a poor taste of music. The kind of music making waves in Nigeria is a reflection of the population who patronize the music. In Nigeria where many people are poorly educated the choice of music will definitely be poor.
God bless you.

The guys who sing the meaniful songs do not sell that much because in this part of the world, the quality does not matter! Most of the people in the music industry got there because "man must chop", so real talent in music does not matter in this place. Gospel musicians, how much are they making? Do they get endorsements like their fellow vulgar peeps? So, I do not see the reason why the vulgar words that pay the bills should not be welcomed. Although, it is not ideal, but, who really cares? The audience want it "dirty", so, they give it to us dirty.

I'm so tired of reading people always making reference to Tuface as being exempted from vulgarity or being an Angel among many wolves. That's nothing but Hypocrisy.

What's the meaning of "enter the place"? Which place dem wan enter?
If I come tell you say "As I kolombi your sister", would you see that as decent enough?

What about his latest Gaga shuffle, so it's not evident enough that he engaged in vulgarity, though subtly (whether subtly or otherwise, it does not change the foregoing matter) . "I wan involve you for my *fu*cking* craze". If na Wizkid or Terry G sing say " Na Yaba Left we dey, and many people need Psychiatric Doctor today Aih, so make we pia, make we pull up..." it'd have passed as vulgar right?
Can you sit around your African Mum or Dad, no matter how old you are and you'd be chanting continously " As I wan craze, I wan involve you for my ****?
Yea, that's what I thought. That, exactly is the underlying implications of vulgarity.

My point ;

Innocent Idibia, though sort of more matured most times with his lyrics compared to many others, yet this doesn't make him Innocent enough of the issue at hand.

Thanks.

Eminem Prophesied about this....................
Syllables- Eminem ft Jay Z ft Dr. Dre ft 50cent ft Stat Quo and Cashis....................
.
.
.
(Intro: Eminem)
"It is not about Lyrics anymore, it's about a Hot Beat and a Catchy Hook" wink

[Verse 1: Eminem]
If we gotta dumb down our style and A-B-
C it....................
Then so be it,,,,,,,,,,,
‘cause nowadays these
kids,,,,,,,,,,
Just don’t give a shi't,,,,,,,,,,
’bout lyrics....................
All they wanna hear is a beat,,,,,,,,,,
—and
that’s it....................
Long as they can go to the club and get
blitzed....................
Pick up some chicks,,,,,,,,,,
and get some digits....................
And the DJ’s playin’ them hits,,,,,,,,,,
“Oh, this my jam! This my shi't!”,,,,,,,,,,
We don’t know a word to a verse, all we
know is the chorus,,,,,,,,,,
‘Cause the chorus repeats the same four
words for us,,,,,,,,,,,
And the song’s ginormous,,,,,,,,,,,
the whole formula’s switched.:.........
‘Cause we don’t know anymore what
are hits....................
Is it the beat? Is it the rap
Is it a finger snap or the same 808 clap ...................." (To be continued)

Eminem is god!!! grin

OK, No Wahala.
Like I guessed originally I'd heard it before. I finally gave it a second listen and... I didn't hear a word of english in the song apart from the first one or two sentences. I don't speak the Yoruba dialect so any form of vulgarity present flew over my head.
The song had a beautiful rythmn though.
