There ‘ll Be Mayhem If Jonathan Rigs 2015 Polls – Junaid Mohammed by Donmams(m): 5:13pm On Aug 23, 2013
Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaidu Mohammed, yesterday, lambasted the trio of Mohammed Abba-Gana, Ameh Ebute and Lawrence Onoja for asking the North to tarry till 2019 before angling for power shift to the region, calling them political mercenaries.

Mohammed also stated there will be mayhem in Nigeria should President Goodluck Jonathan and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, rig the 2015 election.

It will be recalled that Gana, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and PDP chieftain from Borno State, Ebute, a former senator in aborted third republic from Benue State and Onoja who himself was a soldier and military administrator of Plateau and Katsina states, had made solidarity comments for President Jonathan’s second term in office, asking the north to wait till 2019.
Speaking withVanguardin a telephone chat,Mohammed, who is also the National Coordinator of the Coalition of Northern Politicians, Academics, Professionals and Businessmen, said Gana, Ebute and Onoja were not speaking for the north but serving their own self-interests to earn themselves a place in Jonathan’s Presidency.

Calling him a political mercenary and sheer minority from the Middle North, Mohammed particularly regretted that Onoja, who had a commendable career in the military and presided over the affairs of two northern states, Plateau and Katsina, could now stoop so low to play politics of tribes and religion.

He said Onoja lacked the temerity to speak for the north, having been a serial loser of elections since he debuted into politics.

He said: “First of all, I have some respect for Onoja, he is a soldier and now trying to be a politician. But I think it’s an insult for people with similar background, opportunity, soldiers who play like mercenaries, as a former Governor of Plateau and Katsina states, who are now rediscovering politics like a business and who can pose or could claim to speak for any part of the country”.

“It is on record that Onaja has contested elections in the past, including the last election we had in 2011 and he lost. In fact, he lost to Senator David Mark, the President of the Senate. So, if Onaja and his likes were to claim to speak for the whole Middle Belt, that in my view is questionable, uncharitable and utter shamelessness.

“For one, even in Benue, the tribes he comes from, the Idomas are minority. The majorityethnic group in Benue is the Tivs who are about 55 percent of the population of Benue State and within the remaining 45 percent, his own tribe constitutes less than 20 percent.

“Even within that, the Idomas are a constellation of so many tribal groups. There are about seven or eight identified tribal groups of the Idomas. So for a man with that background both personally and a group background to claim to speak for the Middle Belt is sheer nonsense.

“What he was referring to, I don’t even havethe courage to say it, is the claim by some ofthe politically ambitious and opportunistic people in the Middle Belt who claim that every northern minority is automatically a Middle Belter.

“They include people from Kebbi, Adamawa and Yobe states, including Borno. So, in effect, what they are saying is that any northerner who is a Christian must be a member of the Middle Belt Forum. And that issheer nonsense.

“They claim that anybody who is so, so, and so, automatically is so, so, and so, is sheer nonsense. The ACF who is Arewa Consultative Forum claims that every Northerner is automatically a member of ACF.

“If that were to be the case, then, there is nobody who is a member of ACF. If everybody is a member of any group, then nobody is a member of that group.

The most valued claim in being a member, it must be done openly. People must go and identify themselves in the group rather thanstay on the sideline and talk rubbish.”

Mohammed also took swipe at Gana and Ebute, saying they, like Onoja, displayed religious chauvinism through his recent statement, were all seeking various appointments in Jonathan’s government.

According to Mohammed, the fact that the northern elites hailed from the zone by ‘accident of geography does not make them mouthpiece of the zone.

He stressed that they were doing their “dirty jobs in the Jonathan’s presidency’.

He said: “The fact of the matter is that they are northerners by accident of geography but define their economic interests now, that has been served by identifying and doing their dirty job in the Jonathan Presidency.”

With a voice laced with seriousness, the former lawmaker said there would be mayhem in the country should Jonathan rig his way through in 2015.

”Let me say this, if without the consent of the law, they rig the election the way they rigged 2011 election, there will be mayhem in Nigeria.

“The only way he can be President against the law explicitly is to connive with the wayhe did with Jega’s INEC to rig the election andthat has been the pattern since 1999 when Obasanjo came. It hasn’t changed.

“The only way PDP will win election anywhere is by rigging the election. If they do that in 2015, there will be mayhem in Nigeria,” he warned..

I guess what he means to say is "There will be mayhem if Jonathan wins the 2015 election". How is he and his party going to know that Jonathan rigged the election. Is Jonathan going to come out openly and say that he rigged. For these opposition parties, if they lose, the election was rigged but if they win, it's the will of the people.

So, how will he know that the election was rigged. Is it when his party or whichever political division that he's supporting loses?

CPC rigged elections massively in Bauchi through Boko Haram, alias area boys. CPC rigged elections in Kano through under-aged almajiri. In Lagos, Tinubu imposed his wife as ACN senator. In Kano Buhari imposed General Jaafaru Isa, as CPC gubernatorial candidate, against a popular Mohammed Abacha, the proper winner of their primaries. Now when when these dictators cause their own electoral defeats, they resort to violence, in order to PREVENT THOROUGH INTRA PARTY ANALYSIS OF HOW THEY LOST. And they know they will lose again. Jona has quietly been accomplishing great things that will really count, in election 2013, and as these noise makers are realising that they have started losing, and they are preparing the grounds for violence that will prevent people from questioning their political irrelevance.

It IS the will of the people to see GEJ gone. Perhaps you are too busy collecting your fat cheques as one of reno omokri's laptop goons to notice. But the whole country is groaning under GEJ's corruption friendly regime.

To further challenge all these lies & pseudo-logical claims of yours, can u pls explain how the opposition is on a losing ground when its so CLEAR that at present, GEJ & hi cohorts arent with rest of mind?

pls tell me how GEJ could score another through a breakdown of how he will achieve such feat of victory in all 6 Geo-political zones .

Pseudo-logical claims? Well, its either logical, or false. If false, you prove it.
But as things stand, the Opposition seem to rely on feeble attempt to use a rascally Governor Amechi to scuttle President Jonathan's re-election campaign. But ain't working.
Then enter the G5 Boko Haram Governors, who after traversing the nation, ended in a wimp, begging to become Vice President to Jonathan.
Besides, if Major Hamza al-Mustapha campaigns for President Jonathan, Hausa/fulani youths will likely cue for Jona 2015.
The President has everything working in his favour. Boko Haram is being defeated. NEPA is being revamped, and not with Government money. Foreign Direct Investment(FDI) is so increasing that job creation will now be generated by the private sector, in sustainable bottom-top format. Companies are beginning to hire. Just like in President Obama's first term.

His children, born & raised in GRA, & non-hausa-speaking private schools, like Abdulmutallib the clumsy underwear bomber, are certainly living overseas, waiting for the masses to do the dying, for them to return and do the ruling.

To the core northerner, the ONLY free and fair election is the one that is won by one of their own and this is the height of rubbish. GEJ can win again in 2015, let me tell you how. He will get SE/SS/MB, SW votes would be divided and GEJ will get some. He will also get minority votes in the core north.

Outside the ACN controlled SW where systematic propaganda from the opposition alongside self inflicted xenophobia and pure hatred of GEJ is prevelant among most Yoruba voters and also among northern muslims, the rest of the vote is comfortably GEJ's. You also have to consider that in the SW there are also other tribes and some minority yorubas who will still vote GEJ. Also, a state like Ondo will never yield to APC, So that is another sizable chunk going to GEJ. The southsouth, southeast and middle belt are also comfortably GEJ's. Even a northern state like Borno will have swing voters that will give the opposition apprehension.

The opposition has their work cut out and I don't see GEJ being removed out of office come 2015.

So you can sit there and think all is how you see it from your region but there is a bigger picture when it comes to National elections.

The 99% votes in those regions you highlighted are evident in the huge support GEJ enjoys from these two regions.
Plateau , Benue, Taraba and parts of Nasarawa are also against any northern muslim given the fulani menace and boko haram palava.

Thank you for exposing your ignorance. You don't find it at all odd that voter turnout average in the SE/SS is over 90% while for the rest of the country it's less than 50%? The average voter turnout in the US and europe is 50-60%. How come there's such a wide margin between voter turnout averages globally and that of the SE/SS? Y must we always fail in being objective with issues? Y do we keep resorting 2 region, tribe and religion instead of critically addreassing ideologies? 4 a start,I am an ibibio born and bread in Benin(south-south) 4rm which region GEJ is 4rm. I must add i am completely disapointed in GEJ. In 2011,I voted him because 1stly I felt he is young and enterprising,@list he is a Phd holder.I also voted him bcause I felt it is time d minorities taste power.I also voted GEJ because he was then d best candidate.#note I didn't vote pdp,I voted GEJ. Now let's taKe stock of his achievement *looks round* nothing 2 show. If u stil complain about electricity, den GEJ has failed,if u stil say youth employment is low,den GEJ has failed,if u agree Gh nd SA r doing betta dan us,den GEJ is a failure,if u insist dat d cost of governance is 2 high wif 2many p.a,s.a etc;den GEJ is a failure.I beg 1 GEJ fan 2 point out a major brk-through or achievements dah Nigerians can point 2 nd b hapy over dat GEJ did or is it jst because he is 4rm ur tribe or a christian u wnt him? 4 d records apart 4rm Akwa-ibom which oda state can u say is performin under PDP dat has over 80% state control?dnt even cal cross-river cos imoke is doin nuffin,al dah is in calaba wz don by donald duke's adm...akpabio of akwa ibom works basicaly cos he has a drive 4 gud gov nd many wil argue he ought nt 2 b in pdp cos d party has failed nigerians. 4 GEJ fans,is dis d 9ja u want?r u proud of its present state...4 over 14 yrs of pdp reign, wah can we show? Can u compare d pdp states 2 APC states such as lagos, ogun nd edo...dey hav few states buh hav exhibited gud gov...2 whom much is given, much is xpected buh pdp has nt shown dis? Y dnt we rise above our individualism, above religion and tribe and like we voted abIola vote anoda credible person dah can perform.xcept Buhari runs,ny oda APc candidate has my suport weda an hausa, muslim or yoruba or even ibo.so long as its a reasonable alternative 2 pdp misrule,I'll put my money der. Pls stop d tribalism dah pdp has used as a tool 4 long, adress issues.pdp has not perfromd else people wnt b leavin 9ja in droves. We need a 9ja we can b proud of.giv Apc a change,if dey fail, vote dem out
