Anambra guber poll: Court refuses Soludo’s application to review disqualification

AN Abuja high court, on Friday, refused the application brought by one of the disqualified governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, seeking leave for judicial review of his disqualification.
The judge, Justice Peter Affen, had on Thursday, listened to the ex parte application brought by Soludo through his counsel, Ikechukwu Ezechukwu (SAN), and fixed the ruling for Friday.
In his ruling, Justice Affen, held that judicial review, according to Blacklaw Dictionary, is the right of the court to review action of other parties, adding that the purpose is for the supervisory jurisdiction of the High Court.
He further held that going by this, a political party does not fall in the categories of parties whose its action can be reviewed by the court because the court does not supervise it.
He added that the law is settled that whoever emerges as a candidate of a party is the exclusive right of the party.
“The subject matter here is the primary election of APGA which will take place in Anambra state.
“There is nothing before the court to show that the applicant was screened and disqualified in Abuja.
“The application to grant leave is accordingly refused”.
It is recalled that Soludo and five other aspirants were on August 16 disqualified from contesting the November 16 governorship election of the state by the APGA screening panel.
The panel had based its decision to halt the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s participation in the August 26 APGA primaries on the basis of an ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for which he is considered a “potential high risk candidate”.
Dissatisfied,Soludo had approached the court through a motion ex parte filed by his counsel Ikechukwu Ezechukwu SAN praying it to enter an order of certiorari removing and setting aside the decision of the APGA screening panel for violating the party constitution and the 1999 constitution of Nigeria and to maintain the status quo ante bellum.

Soludo on a Solo level.

Soludo dis must not be the end. I never liked Peter Obi. Even though initially i liked GEJ, but power has gone to his head. We are the ones that go around making excuses for ur short comings and supported u from the dayz wen u where vice president to becoming president.

Soludo is one of us and an intellectual. Soludo can't harm u but rather support and work with ur Gov. It breaks our heart to see Soludo struggle so much with just the clearance stage not even the primary.

I need to find out why soludo is been treated like a leper by his own people, Hausa none Yoruba won't have treated and dispelled him the ways his own people has done to him. He should just suppose Dr. Chris Ngigi to succeed.

Haven't u heard that the Igbos are the only tribe that tolerate other tribes but condemn their own. We are already missing the Ikemba.

In politics, there is no permanent ememy just interest.

For boldness at which Obi, GEJ and the PDP have adopted in drowning our solution, i call on Soludo, his supporters and the good people of Anambra to pay them in kind. Massively vote for Ngige.

Hmmm... It has now clear that Peter Obi is playing with the minds and future of the people of Anambra. Soludo is treated like beggars deported from Lagos.








Soludo is the middle like midnight.

Soludo or solution should just forget about the ticket. It's obvious GEJ or Obi dont want him there. He should just support Ngige the tested and trusted man for the job.

For now Ngige looks like he has an upper hand, BUT we have not given up on Soludo yet. We are waiting for his next political moves and we shall follow him there.

This just pathetic but wat can u expect from a state dat brought u Ezu 50 and Gov supervised demolition of private. To say Obi is a disappointment is an understatement.
