If someone works in a brewery company doesnt imply that he is a drunk.
But one thing I have come to realize is that, if you speak the truth in this country you are doomed. Period!

no matter how u put it the north is populous than the south,and what the guy said is correct there were problems during the counting. His reason for making attempt to point lagos as the populous might be due to the stance taken by the gov.of kano which is openly against his appointment. I liked him he spoke like a drunkerd i.e the truth.

The so-called "LOGICAL" arguments being used to negate the "greater" poulation of the North fail for so many reasons


First is the argument that across the whole of West Africa ,from Ivory Coast down to Nigeria the South tends to be more densely populated so why is Nigeria different.
The answer is simple; First Nigeria is NOT different. Northern Nigeria is double the size of Southern Nigeria and has almost the same poulation as the south = half the density

Nigeria does not have the same shape as Benin,Togo or Ghana and so the Land mass in our north is much greater than in the north of these other countries. how many of those countries cited have a North twice the size of the south is it Togo or Ghana?
More importantly though the proponents of this theory leave out the more important question : why is it that more than half of the population of West Africa's 245 million are in Nigeria. That already is evidence that Nigeria does not conform to the trends in West Africa so why should it be any different with nort-south distribution.
There are more rivers and water resources in Northern Nigeria than any other West African Country and Northern Nigeria produces more food than any other region in West Africa.After all the basis for population groth ultimately is food.
The characterization of the North as desert is funny but being a desert does not necessarily mean low population anyway
We hear of fight in Ibadan about Northern Beans but it is not just beans. We all know that Northern Nigeria feeds the South with Vegetables,grains beef,etc. What foods does the North buy from the south?
All of this is not to prove that the north is more or less populous but to show to the only way to resolve the issue is by census and not through specious arguments that do not add up.The arguments just solve nothing
As a southerner I have been brought up with a diet of propaganda that the North is less populous which may be so but from the basis of rationality I do not see any sense in the ARGUMENTS about savanna belts ,trends in other West African countries etc. It is like saying rather than play the WORLD CUP LET US DEBATE WHO WOULD WIN
What southerners should fight for is better censuses using modern technology and also the decoupling of census results from allocated central resources.

The suspension of Festus Odimegwu if linked to his comments would be a lop-sided application of the punitive measures. The comments by Festus Odimegwu can be likened to the same use to which Mr CBN Governor has put his mouth since the start of his tenure in office. The amount of upheaval he has caused the economic and financial state of naija is better imagined - there has not been any loss of jobs or suspensions.

And, the talk of a "Beer Man" shows the lack of intellect of most of those in politics. Kwankwaso has not been able to deliver that much to his people, and he is able to yab a man that headed Nigeria Breweries for many years. Sure he gloats the fact the man once headed a Brewery, but enjoyed the VAT NB contributed based on the share his state got. To have successfully headed a Brewing Giant like NB is what only a select few only get to dream about.Festus Odimegwu was head of a Corporate Giant in Nigeria by ALL standards.

The government of Baba OBJ has never alluded to perfection, and Baba himself does openly yab Governors, Ministers and the like when he feels like. Also, the fact that the Census had certain flaws was not hidden after the event - so, the Chairman was only repeating what was already in the public domain and subject to countless court cases.

Time will tell.

I work with the national population commission and every thing the chairman said is true but that was not the way he should have gone about it. I pray he's recalled because we barely have 3years to prepare for the 2016 cencus.

The suspension is politically motivated. Oga jonah wake up to your responsibilities and forget 2015 for now.

The appointment of Festus Odimegwu as the chairman of NPC is one of the best apponintments ever made in this country. His roadmap indicates that he has an answer to an accurate population figure Nigeria is in deer need of. Let us not fool ourselves, who amongs us can claim he is not aware that the 2006 census was not credible. Seven years after the census the locality results is yet to be published. What a disgrace!!!!!! how then did they cook up the states and local govt results without the locality results. Reference is still made to 1991 census to obtain locality results.Festus Odimegwu cannot be suspended.GEJ is not a fool to listen to a little mind like kwakwaso and rub Nigeria of a golden opportunity of the master plan of one of the best brains on earth in the person of Eze Festus Odimegwu to give Nigeria the highly desired popolation census. Nigeria must get it right this time and festus odimegwu is the man to lead us to the promise land
