The political crisis tearing Taraba State apart assumed a new dimension as the leadership of the Taraba state House of Assembly has vowed not to recognize Mr. Danbaba Suntai as governor of the state.

Speaker of the House, Hon. Haruna Tsokwa has furthermore vowed not to allow the governor resume office until he addresses the people of the state through the House of Assembly.

Until this is done, the speaker said the Assembly will not allow the earlier transmitted letter of the governor to the members to allow him resume duty to see the light of the day.

Addressing journalists moments ago in his office, his decision to halt Suntai from resuming office according to him is as a result of his love to the people of the state whom he said deserved to see their governor “who has just returned from hospital physically.”

Flanked by the deputy speaker, Hon. Tanko Maikarif, the deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Josiah Kente and some members of the House, the speaker vowed to tread all legitimate paths to frustrate plans for Suntai to govern the state by proxy.

Earlier the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Albasu Kunnin had informed journalists that since the letter transmitted to the House by the governor had been acknowledged the governor can now go ahead and resume his office as the number one citizen of the state.

Piqued with the utterance, the speaker whom LEGISREPORTS observed was visibly dejected, said for the governor to be given the nod by the assembly members, the yearnings and aspirations of the people to see “their governor physically” must be considered.

LEGISREPORTS learnt that all efforts so far made by the leadership of the House to see the governor whom since his arrival back to the state has continued to proved fertile.

The wrangling in the House which LEGISREPORT notes was necessitated by the decision of some of the members to compel the governor to appear before them, has no doubt factionalized the members into two different camps.

While those in the camp of the Majority Leader vowed not to allow the governor to come before the members, that of the speaker has categorically stressed their readiness to continue to recognize the Acting Governor in his capacity as acting governor pending when Suntai is ready to succumb to the demand of some of the members.

Wondering why the governor has continue to refused to address the people that gave him the mandate to ascend the number one position of the state in the last general election, allowing him to resume office without addressing the people, the speaker observed, as being “unfair to the good people of this state.”

To halt possible outbreak of crisis in the House especially among the members, LEGISREPORTS observed a sudden increase in the numbers of security operatives presently keeping vigil at the House.

Suntai should go and concentrate on recuperating or getting rehabilitated. Let him leave the state alone. He cannot govern for now

The whole Taraba thing is beginning to take a new dimension. How hard is it for Suntai to just have a 10min aired conversation with a TV or radio station or meet people in power to show his good health and ability to resume. This thing of suspicion can simply go away with just one live interaction with the people or state House of assembly.he wants to resume yet he can't have a press meeting.Na wa o! shocked shocked shocked undecided undecided undecided The wrong actions taken now may soon cause life and limb. Before the right thing is done.We hardly care about the masses who suffer or are affected by certain arrogant attitudes of the politicians. undecided undecided undecided
